Now that I've got 98 spots locked in....I'll raffle off 96 of them for $.02. You can buy 10, invest 20 cents total...and stand a very good chance of taking home the dollar...500% of your initial investment.
I will allow escrow service for that dollar....for the buyer's additional amount of $10. Dollar is guaranteed to be 85% there (or better).

I thought about picking up some spots on this dollar, but I saw where you picked it up on Ebay for $.96 and I don't feel that you should be able to make such a large profit on it. If you relist it with only 97 available slots, I might consider picking one up, as long as shipping is free. ;) :D

Mark,
You're being ripped off! DO THE MATH!!
First of all, you have a 1 in 50 chance of losing everything.
Secondly, you will not make 2% if you win! 2% of 98 is 1.96 - the house has the edge, dude!!
So it's 1.96%, div by 2, less a fixed 1/50 of not winning. So are you willing to risk 98 to get less than 1% return?? 1.96/2 - P2/50 (c)100 * 98/100.
It's a bad deal! DON'T GET SUCKED IN TO THESE RAFFLES!! :p :D

Von's right.
I retract my last offer. I now will raffle off my 96 spots at 5 cents a piece. Still a great return on your investment, but I GOTS TO COVER MY ENDS ON THIS ONE....
Thanks for clearing it up, Von. I almost made a mistake of biblical proportion!!!

My pleasure, buddy. That's what this community is all about.
Anyways, the correct structure (given recent events) would be to sell 14 spots for .10 each, in order to win the one-dollar prize.
After all, you're only risking .10 for a chance to win one dollar. That's fair, right?? Who cares that the seller is making 40% extra????

Yeah...might be better.
Still not sure, though.....I've sent MULTIPLE PMs to ForumGhost asking whether or not he had the LOA for the dollar bill. He's dodging me, and I know it.
Perhaps I can go elsewhere to have it authenticated??? It's a whole dollar, but I won't pay 2 cents to have it verified by an expert. I think that an expert should be willing to do it for free.
Fine....no retractions. I'll keep my original 98 spots, and keep the sale at 2 cents a piece on my secondary raffle. Authentication will cost an additional $50, payable in pre-auctioned $1 bills, sequentially numbered.

As long as it goes "Express Mail" with a tracking number, I'm cool with that. Is there any ivory in this dollar? Will Customs be an issue? If so, just paint those parts of the dollar black, and don't claim the full amount of the dollar. Label it as "Gift," and insure it for 25 cents.

isn't 0.01 cents actually 0.0001 $? so you are rafflin 1$ for the total amount of 0.01$ or 1 cent... is there a buy it now option? how many items of these do you have in stock, I think it is great value! ;)

it really is a great value i have quite a few in stock right now. They are in perfect condition even though i am not the original owner of them.
They are used however they are in excellent condition.
I have one custom Its "Goerge" Washington dollar currently now and the rest are productions "Georges"
isn't 0.01 cents actually 0.0001 $?
So how much is .10? A dime. Right? .01 is a penny. Right?

You say that you're not the original owner of these dollars......
Are they UNSPENT dollars, or TEST SPENT. (A TEST SPEND would be 2 or 3 financial transactions, just to verify the integrity of the dollar.)
I don't want to take possession of a "Brand New" dollar if there's been some spending going on with it.
Truth in advertising, sir....that's what it's all about.
Any cracks, wrinkles, fold marks on the dollars? Do they lay flat? I assume five of these can be exchanged for a $5 bill. Correct?
ForumGhost516
06-03-2008, 05:03 PM
No the dollars lay flat together and folded in half.
And these dollars were only test spent. Walmart Local Butcher just light spending to see how they feel. Other than that they are perfect.

I would like to buy all 100 spots for the agreed upon price of 0.01 cents per spot.
The math:
100 x 0.01 cents = 1 cent
Sweeeett......dollar.....here I come!!
Donald :)
Edit: Doh....looks like someone already pointed out the error in the post......

Somebody also already spoke for 98 slots. That would be ME!!!!
You can have as many of my slots as you'd like....for $.02 each.
That's a monster deal........for me.
Get out your calculators people! 100 X .01 equals 1 dollar .01 is correct! Geez. I buy you people books and send you to school and you still can't add. :D
.01 is a penny
.10 is a dime
.50 is 50 cents
.75 is 75 cents
1.00 is one dollar
Decimal places go:
Tenths, Hundredths, Thousandths, Ten Thousandths, etc.
So the hundredths place means 100 pennies in a dollar. .01 x 100 equals one dollar.

thank you hal for pointing that out. I was laughing way too hard to type.
I see the logic in some people saying .01 cents meaning .01 of a penny. What he meant was $.01 Which is one cent.
If you're going to use text instead of symbols, then you need to say .01 dollar.

We know what he meant..... but to take the literal translation, .01 cents is actually 1/100th of a cent. All in good fun....... :D

Ok, after carful consideration I have decided to participate. Put me down for one spot. I plan on overnighting my payment so here is the tracking number.....1z1234a6789. It will be sent UPS with signature confirmation. There is, however, one condition though. I need it to be made in to a "Lincolnist" conversion.
If you don't understand, pay close attention as I will carefully explain. As I am unsure of how it will lay flat on the table I would like you to have it converted into pennies and then after that, a penny roll (at your own cost obviously).
I am not concerned with what wrap you choose.
Then, and only then will you be able to tell if they roll straight together and apart. If this condition is not met then I will have to look elsewhere to spend my hard earned "coin".

As much of a deal as this raffle appears to be, there
is one underlying fact that completely has been
forgotten:
It's been decades since the dollar was worth
a dollar as it is no longer backed by gold.
It is not actually a dollar. It is in fact a
FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE
This means it is not worth the paper it
is printed on.
Do you have any Euros to raffle???

well it depends what is the serial # on the dollar .....
i mean i would hate to win a regular old dollar .....

OH .....never mind i read that it was folded
now its only worth .74 cents
Listen just because im shipping the dolar bill from hong kong through vancouver to berlin and then you doesnt mean anything.
You are paying for the shipping right?
And don't forget to insure it, it could accidentally fall into a shredder
