How about something new. Try running this layout from the cueball position I give you, then take ball-in-hand to run it from where you would have liked to have left the cueball for this layout.

Looking at the set up, it appears that the 2 ball goes clean, and the 4 goes with minimal movement of the 1. If that is the case, then this is what I would attempt to do ... trying to minimize cue ball movement if possible. The sequence with the 2,4,1 could very easily become a problem, and require a much firmer stroke, and then having to rely on getting a good roll to keep from making it more complicated. (Atleast in my young, atleast to 14.1, mind :eek: ) Really hoping to get some constructive, key word there, criticism on my choices.

I only did the first sequence so far... late and I am going to get some ZZZ's and come back to it tomorrow.

Bluesteel, I'm glad you're finding that they help. Here's my two cents about your run if you're interested:

Holding that first shot on the 9 would be nice, but I think you have to allow for a lot more drift than that. At that angle I don't think you can avoid a drift to the right of about 2 feet, although I do think you can still go for the 8-ball on the next shot.

Also, it's a matter of opinion but I don't see the 4-ball going with the 1-ball there. I may be wrong. It may go with spin. But if it does go, you have to consider your chances of being blocked by the 1 for the 7 afterwards. For insurance ball reasons, I think it would be better to go softly into the cluster either off of the 8 or the 2, and deciding where and how to hit them so that either one of the cluster balls will be your next shot or an insurance ball.

I like your choice for the last 4 balls. My preference, from where you left the cueball for the 1-ball, would have been to stun straight up past the 6 rather than to go off of the rail.

My favorite thing about your run is that you're asking for constructive criticism. I like people discussing the nuances of these runs and having friendly debates. It's all about getting better.
