what five (5) letter word, becomes shorter when you add two (2) letters to it???

i forgot i even posted that, and after getting a few pm's with answers i guess i'll take the time to post it, the answer was SHORT, and only one person got it wrong, and now you know who you are :)

lol yeah it's pretty simple, but it's the only one I can remember. For some reason I have stumped quite a few people on this a long time ago. Hell, when I first heard it I think it took me about 5 minutes to figure it out lol.
