I feel your pain, I believe I am the only one who has defended mine, I played 3 times for it and did not lose but then got raised so now that I am lowered I see we have some conflicts. Rules of Challenging

- The Challenger should have around 200 posts on the AZB Forums and be of good reputation.
- The King will post a short list of three or more games they are willing to play against a Challenger.
- The games offered should be of a fair length. Matches in 8-ball, 9-ball, and 10-ball should be to 7 or longer; one-pocket to 3 or longer; straight pool to 150.
- The games will also be straight-up without handicaps or spots.
- The King will have priority to host the match.
- The standard bet for the challenge is $50.

I think you should pick your game of 8 ball and Carlos should pick whatever he likes with 9 ball being the decider if it goes the distance. This is just my opinion but either way I will see if I can make it to sweat it so I can see what the competition looks like. :wink:

I think the 200 posts is just a general guideline. I beleive the idea is that you just be in good standing in your local pool community. You definitely meet the criteria in my books, so I will vouch for you if you go to challenge the crown. I wish you all the luck. After our marathon session my legs were killing me on sunday. Goes to show how much I have been playing. If lenny and the other guys are ok with me jumping in before 200 posts then I am in line to play for king of the 8's after Lenny. That will give me some time to practice.

I would say don't worry about the 200 posts because I played last year and I only had like 30. As long as you participate then ur good.

Hope you learned a lil something there. Even though pool is not a athletic sport, you still need to hydrate your body. We probably played about 9 or 10 hours of pool.
Good news is that you won't have to play me for King of 8's. But you do have to play 3 different kinds of games. So, be sure to brush up on some different games other than 9 ball.
Lil side note: I haven't played that much pool in a 24 hour period in a very long time. Thanks for getting me in dead stroke, it felt really good. Next time I'm sure I won't have to quit as early, so we can play all night till close if need be. Keep on strokin........:thumbup:

Yeah, I've been meaning to put some Round Robins together again. The last one I ran was in January.

I was trying to get a Mosconi Type challenge match together with our Prescott players, but we kind of let that fall to the side. We were thinking of having 5 players of all different ratings. (6, 7, 8, 9 and 10). Then have some singles matches, some scotch doubles, a scotch quad, and a team event or two. Or maybe something with 8 players (6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10).

I like the 7's vs 8's challenge idea! Put some ideas together of how to run it, different games, tables, format, etc. to score points for each team and we can do it in September/October sometime!

Center Pocket, you are more than welcome to join in the fun! The 200 posts was just preventing some monster from coming in, posting twice and stealing the crown away.

As of now I do not believe there is a King of anything as everyone was lowered, just like I lost my title when I was raised as did Carlos, it should be the same if your lowered. As for justabangers comment calling me a moron, I can guarantee to you that I have a higher IQ and you can bet something. We tried to set up a gambling game 6 months ago and you locked in saying before the end of the month and backed out because you have no heart. Since I am stealing playing you one pocket you got a ball if you grow a pair sweetheart, all you can eat for $200-$500 a set like we agreed on before. When you lose I will give you a chance to get your money back playing 9 ball since its the only game you have a chance in, put up or STFU already. :wink:

As for any of you people who like to chime in from time to time and talk smack in internet chat rooms anonymously then come and see me you non gambling nits. I try to avoid even communicating with a few of the clowns, I can count on my hand who you all are and its the hand I wipe my ass with. Me and Jude have not had any more bantering, we will just play and save the crap talk as it never turns out good. I have put justabanger on ignore because of making untrue comments and him acting like an idiot but of course he cant help himself and if it wasn't quoted I would not have seen it, when your mouth works faster then your brain it can be a tough life. Both you and Carlos lost your titles because you got raised to a level higher than the persons that you beat to gain and keep your title. I'm still at the same level as I was when I got my title.

I listed the games that I will play because I'm an 8 rated player at all of them. I play 1 pkt about 6 speed at best, whereas Carlos plays about 8 speed and Lenny you are playing atleast 10 speed. I thought the point of the challege was to evenly match up and not be stealing?!?

I respect that you want to play this way, but I'm not going to put my money on the line in a game that we play 3 or 4 ratings apart from each other.

Both you and Carlos lost your titles because you got raised to a level higher than the persons that you beat to gain and keep your title. I'm still at the same level as I was when I got my title.

I listed the games that I will play because I'm an 8 rated player at all of them. I play 1 pkt about 6 speed at best, whereas Carlos plays about 8 speed and Lenny you are playing atleast 10 speed. I thought the point of the challege was to evenly match up and not be stealing?!?
To me the challenge was about matching up, sometimes you have the best and sometimes the worst. I think showcasing your best game and the other guy showcasing his along with a neutral game works best but its just my opinion. It is about seeing who the best player is, if you cant win at your best game then your outmatched also. I respect your position but I have to pull for Carlos because I know if we play it will be a format where we each pick a game we are the favorite and one game where we are even. As for the 10 speed compliment, I appreciate it but I would say I play 9 speed one pocket to be honest as I still miss hangers from time to time. If one of their sponsors got on board with us we would not go on their site and take a logo they custom made and use it, we would make our own. It is obvious you just do not want to play, if you did then you would play me for what I can play for and that realistically is $200 a set. I do not have thousands to lose but am okay with losing 5-600 playing you. The best way to avoid a game is to high roll someone, the 9 is smaller weight in 10 ball then the 8 playing 9 ball so your not giving up a bunch of weight, just enough to get me to play a game I am not good at and do not like. :)

What Jerry conveniently fails to mention is the fact that he and I have matched up playing 9ball at least a dozen times on the big and small table and the only time I have won is when he gives me the 8. And when he gave me the 8, I barely won 15-13. So he pretty much has the lock playing that game... but I am not complaining about that and/or refusing to play.

If you and I play one pocket I guess I am the favorite, if you were to play me straight pool you would be the favorite as I have never ran over 60 balls, neither of us might win the other guys game so we get to showcase our best game against the other guy. Then you have a neutral game as a sort of tie breaker, if you do not win your chosen game then your $hit out of luck basically and outmatched. If you were to play me one pocket, 14.1, and 8 ball then it would go to 8 ball as the decider which you might still have the edge so what is so unfair about a format like that. I let people pick there games when we played, Tim beat me at his chosen game, if someone picked Golf on the pool table I would lose as I do not play it but given some advance time I might apply myself to better myself in that game and try to beat the guy, you never know what might happen. :)

Having a high run over 60 does not make anyone a favorite. That's like saying I beat the 9-ball ghost so I'm a great 9-ball player. There are so many more aspects of those games that go into it. I have 4 runs over 60 in my life. 2 in the 70's, an 86 and a 122.

In the match with Carlos, of all the games, I only see 1 pocket as a distinct advantage for either player. We've played 8-ball and 9-ball many times and Carlos has won many times in both. The clarification you listed was the 2 or 3 times we actually met up in a tournament. I won hill-hill in barbox 9-ball the other week on my break.

I am not saying it is an even game Jerry, you playing me one pocket is not and me playing 14.1 is not either, I have 0 chance of beating you as I have not played it much and play it terribly. So then that would take it to the rubber match of a game like 8 ball where you still have a slight edge as you do in 9 ball too. One thing I know is how to match up and where I stand with most people and I have seen you play. If we did play I would win the one pocket, you the 14.1 and then you would have an edge in the rubber match if its 8,9 or 10 ball but I still have a chance to win one of those games but how you feel about one pocket I feel about 14.1. :wink:

I think one pocket is the only game I actually play to my rating, I play 8 and 9 ball like a 7, just ask anyone of the guys I have played on here and they will tell you the same thing. I guess this match is not going to come off, I think showcasing both players best games and then going to a neutral game is fun, you each get to beat one another in your chosen discipline and if you lose in your chosen game the your toast. You guys could just play one set but since it appears Carlos is a Doug in most games then he should pick that one game if it is not going to be one pocket, perhaps a long set of whatever he chooses. How about you both play banks! :D

10 ball, 14.1, and one pocket at sweet tooth on a 9 footer. i have about 15 games of one pocket experience and my high run in straights is in the 30s. and it is going down not this weekend ( i have a 500 added 7 and under 10 ball at metro im playing in plus running stb tourny's) but the weekend after.

Yes I will play you your game no problem but I am not going to let you just reach in my pocket and take money at a game I have no chance at i.e. one pocket I will play but the game has to be adjusted because rating aren't based on one pocket the are based on rotation games.

Best advice is before you play a shot make sure you keep in mind what the guy might do to you when you move that ball to that position, you might be putting him in ideal position to set the noose on you. :wink:

There were great matches. Jerry had me 6-1 in 10ball and I got it back to hill/hill and got a tough roll on the 6 and ended up giving Jerry ball in hand.

The 1pkt was not as close, but I think it was more because Jerry was not happy about playing it.

As we all expected, it came down to the 8ball tie breaker. We started out trading racks and were tied at 2-2... Then I ran a few racks and got the score to 6-2. Final score 7-3.

I now know that I dislike 1 pocket even more than before. I obviously play the game really bad, and was pretty pissed actually that this was the only way we could play. Going into any best of 3 series, you have to think you have a chance, cause you only have to win 2 of them. Well, for me it was like betting even money on a 2 set parlay. I had to win both of them to even have a chance. Pretty shitty spot, for anyone!

But the reason I'm disliking 1 pocket more now is that is completely screwed up my 8-ball set. I missed shots and position that I haven't missed even once in 3+ years. I know playing 1 pocket is supposed to help your other games, but playing right away I felt like I was playing with the opposite hand.

Maybe someday I'll feel better about that game, cause I can see how it could be a fun game. Playing it against a player that is 2-3 ratings below me doesn't interest me in anyway, especially for money.

I agree STB on bar boxes is the way to go, im comfortable with a 50 dollar buy in but 100 might be alittle much. Remember I have to drive three hours to get there, pay for a hotel room and food and still pay for the tournie. Thats the only reason I say100 is to much. Im going to have about 150-200 in other expenses.

We can use the nine footers for AZB King challenge matches or money challenge matches during the tournie or afterwards. I voted for STB because know matter what tables we play on I know I am going to like them. Kolby's is a great place but tables 13 and 14 are tough.

Hill to 1 is tough to fade when you just show up and play with out hitting any balls first. I sure hope you play better 1 pocket than you showed last night or Lenny is going to have all kinds of fun dominating you. Me and Carlos respect one another I feel and I know he will be the toughest opponent I have faced in these challenge matches. I think one pocket might be the only game I have an edge in and he is the favorite in any other pool game. I have no delusions on where I stand but I can still win a set and maybe I just will have a good day where I will play well and be lucky. Carlos just let me know a date you want to play, enjoy your crown for a little bit first though. :)
