Does the winner of the Gabe/John match have be beat Luat twice in a row in the finals to win, or is it double elimination format excpet for the finals?

Gabe boggled a 5 in the corner. Had a slight long rail backcut. Was undecided about holding the cue or going across and back. Power
stroked it and the 5 jingled in the hole. Luat had a simple out, 5-6-7-9.

What a damn shame ...
