I need your help

So we bought an 8x4 Brunswick Hawthorn (10 yrs. old model) from a lady on Craigslist. It's playing great, and over the past two months I've really gotten back into pool, but there's one problem, the rail caps or corner miters. Not sure which. The corners tuck in under the edge of the pocket, and cover the adjoining two rails. One is broken, one won't stay on top, and slides back, effectively leaving a brass edge pointing up for someone to slip and die on...These parts are tough to find, and possible impossible for a decade old table, but I looked for the closest thing, carefully measured the correct size, and clicked checkout. When they came, I went to install them removing the pocket, and unscrewing the old one. Unfortunately the replacements didn't have threaded holes, so no way to secure them. I don't know what to do, maybe call up Brunswick, or do you guys know some other parts that would work here. Here are some pics, and the replacement parts that didn't work are the black ones.

they still make that table so you can order new ones. Make sure you fit them perfect and use a lock washer, They should work fine, you will probably have to loosen your rails, I usually mate these together first for a tight fit then do the rails.

first in the photo with the 9 ball
you see the little hole in the front of the corner piece
that is for a small nail you nail them on and then apply the screw to the bottom... then they can not fall back like it the other photo

the new pieces you got are not even close to fitting ....

i looked on brunswicks web site and they dont list this table anymore
but you could contact them and see if they had old parts
the later version of the hawthorn did not have corner pieces they butted up
like the newer bridgport table......

i hope this helps

ohhh, snap! I can't believe you guys found them. I looked all over! Anyway, the one that is 27.95, I can just order two of them, and keep the two that are on? Also, could someone expand a big upon loosening up the rails and then mating them with the rail cap? Thanks for all the helps fellas

Also that hole in the rail cap with the 9 ball is actually threaded, removing the pocket gives access to the bolt from underneath. You can see the hole in the pic of the corner without a cap

the hole i was talking about is in the tab closest to the pocket
its a tiny hole just big enough for a nail

also in the first photo you can see the hole in the rail where the nail held the corner on.......

to install the corners you will need to remove all pockets, remove the ball return, remove all rail bolts
then lift the rail assembly off the table (you can turn it upside down and set it right back on the table to work on it)then remove the wood corners
remove the screws on the corner brackets
nail on the new corners reattach the meal brackets and add the screw that goes into the rail cap....
then reassemble ,flip over ,add rail bolts, ball return and pockets

Woww...all that for two rail caps. Alright, I'll do it. I saw what you were talking about later on that day, I guess I nail while one of the rails is off, exposing the hole and a rail to nail it in? Well thanks very much I do appreciate it, will let you know how it goes. I'm sure I'll run into problems but hopefully it'll come out looking right. Again, much appreciated.

I would suggest taking the rails off and drilling holes at a 45 degree and and then clamping them together and sinking some screws into them. Or you could router them out and use counter top butterfly bolts.
Thanks, Ron

rail caps for Brunswick Hawthorne

Do you have a brass rail cap for this table anymore that you'd like to sell? The chrome ones are still available in sets and singles but I'd like to keep the look of the brass and have one broken (sloppy repair) on my table and saw your post and wondered if you replaced them all and had one of the old ones left? Or if anyone else has one around; contact me. 814-722-1541

The Gentleman you're trying to pose a question to has not been on site since 2010, so I highly doubt he'll respond. Brian.
