The 3rd Annual Billiards for Benefits Pool Tournament will be held this coming Saturday, February 28, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at the Carlisle Moose Lodge, 25 East High Street, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to support the Nicholas Ryan Over Foundation and promoting awareness of ARVD [arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia].
ARVD is estimated to affect 1 in 5,000 people. Although it is an uncommon cause of sudden cardiac death, it accounts for up to one-fifth of sudden cardiac deaths in people under 35 years of age. ARVD is the leading cause of death in young athletes. There is no known curative treatment for this heart disorder.
There will be a men's singles and women's single tourmament, double elimination format, $25 entry fee, with cash payouts, along with door prizes and raffle items.
