Full Splice Wood Question

I would like to have a full splice cue with an ebony handle into a purple heart forearm. With long points. I have seen very few full splice cues made with this combination and was wondering if there might be a reason? Any thoughts? Any issues to be aware of?

Specs as follows.

Palmer Model J
2 shafts with Micarta ferrules.
1st shaft weighs 4.5 oz. with a 13.55 mm tip. This shaft rolls good.
2nd shaft weighs 4.3 oz. with a 13.30 mm tip. This shaft has a tapper roll or wobble when rolled.
Butt weighs 16.00 oz..

Ed Farris Cues - Shafts

I just bought an Ed Farris cue from S K Custom Cues.

I'll have it this Wednesday.

I've read in the past that Ed Farris makes some of the best shafts out there.

I know that there are a few AZ'ers that have Farris cues.

My question is , whats so special about his shafts ??

I've read that they really play great. My new cue has an old Brunswick shaft that Ed has only made two of - his and now mine.

I would really appreciate any information on how you guy's that may have one, like them, and what makes them so special.

Any comment on his cues and or shafts would really be appreciated.

Like, hows the hit - do they have a tone (sound) when hitting the cue ball ?

My new cue has a forend that was made by Joel Weinstock, then Ed finished up the build.

Looking forward to any information :smile:

A tough drill

Shane and Donny were practicing this drill last week the day after there match up. It can be done with 9 balls or all 15. Shane and Donny were using all 15. Shane got to 12 on a diamond.
The object is to run the balls in order without touching any of the balls.

this set contains 3 joint protectors: 1 female and 2 males. They are black delrin with 3/8-11 brass pins. recessed in the top of each cap is a beautiful cactus emblem. These sets are all hand done. they will fit any cue with a 3/8-11 thread.

Ride the Rail St Louis Nov 28 and 29th

Next Saturday at 3 p.m. the player auction will start at Ride the Rail for their annual Coca Cola Open. Over 100 players participate in this tourney every year. The entry fee is $10 plus you split quarters in a nine ball tourney. Race to 7 in the winners bracket and race to 5 in the losers bracket double elimination. NO AA PLAYERS.

One Sunday the big boys tournament (OPEN TO ANYONE), anyone can play it starts at 5 p.m. and goes well into the night. I will post the flyer later on this thread. Both tourneys pay out well over $1000 and there is plenty of action on side bets or just playing someone you think you can bet.

Stay tuned for a PDF of the flyer after I go down to the pool hall and get one. They have NO alcohol but have beverages and snacks plus there is a DQ and St Louis Pizza and Wings accross the mall. Less than a 50 yard walk.:smile:

I've waited a long time to get thes in. These came from an indian reservation in alaska. My buddy brought me a couple to try after using one i had to get some in stock. The play is pehnomenal, a little stiffer and crisper than ivory. You can drill straight through or cap it. Machining is excellent, they are very very strong. You can blend and plish with ease. I've priced them by looks only all play the same. .570 O.D. i've turned and faced and centered one end.
Ive done all the grunt work so the price is more than fair. I do paypal and shipping is a fixed $3.00 shipped any were in the USA. I have put them in here so if the cuemakers want them they can see them. I kept what i need these are what i have left for sale thanks Darrin Hill
