Only one Cue, which one and why?

If the choice came down to my mighty Lucasi cocobolo or the Troy Downey cue i would have to go with the Lucasi.
It just feels better to me.

The kid in Denver who bought mine the other day loves it.
Amazing cue for $275.

As far as the one and only cue, i keep trying to switch but nothing plays like the 70s 58" Josswest I've been playing with since I started playing again.
I don't even take it with me when I go Matchups to practice on the Gold Crowns, but I can't find an everyday player that I like better for league play.
I take four or five cues with to try.
A couple of my other Josswests are about the same maybe better, same tips, but they are 57" cues.

At different points in my life, I probably would say different cues. For example, when I was playing my very best, many years ago, I was using a cue that Richard Black made for me back in 1978 and I later sold and wish I hadn't. In the mid-80s, I was using a McDermott C-14, that I used up until several years ago and still have.

I quit playing for many years and when I started back, I bought a few new cues just to toy around with.

Every cue I have plays well, but the one I'm using at the moment is a Becue with the Prime shaft and I will say I think it hits and plays as well, or better, than just about any cue made, by anybody.

It isn't fancy and isn't going to win any beauty contests, but for "pure" playing fun and performance, it would be hard to beat.

So many wonderful cues! But since i dont have a ton of cue experience i think at the moment id choose to have a utility cue custom made. A break shaft ,play shaft, jump/break with built in extension.

My Bill Schick cue. It's the closest thing to a point and shoot cue. No other cue has played better for me. I have tested a couple of cues that might have been as good. But I did not have enough experience to even say that confidently.

Oooppppssss.............HAD TO EDIT: My meds must have been working overtime.

I was speaking about the shaft only. A buddy of mine on here read my post and called me....lol...sorry.

To the OP:

Any cue that is balanced between 17" and 19" (with a 4oz shaft) while weighing 18.5 oz --- 19.5 oz (with shaft) . It must accept a weight bolt at least four inches into cue, not have a wrap and .........must....... be a big pin.

Man, making us cue junkies pick just one, that’s cruel! In the collection, three are my stand outs, and of those... it would have to be the Black Titlist! I play with a few different cues, but without fail every time I go back to play with it, and after I hit the first ball im like... oh yeah! That’s the one! Just recently had a sunken timber shaft made for it, plays great!

This seems to my favorite player. Schon H4L on right. There is something about the balance.

I have a bunch of cues, and you have to give them each love and attention, just like women.

One cue

A cue is only a tool, yes there is a significant placebo effect in this thought. I have made over 5k investments in various cues that pressed onto me,,, i better improve my outcome because this is a high dollar cue, and this placebo does drive you internally to improve, primarily thru concentration. And my guilt of what i have spent... but

I have since seperated from investment customs to true technology driven improvements and i think this is the differential that should be considered...

Performance does now lie in production cues and investments may be in customs for their "custom" intent.

I am an engineer of production quality and if controls are in place of this then,,,,, highest quality can be produced.

Example...... Predator and Mezz

But, marketing offers of control of the cue ball improvement hype does slant this...(low deflection) and even now carbon fiber.....

Let's be true, we "good players" could compensate squirt and swerve effects in our decisions back in the 80's with our Meucci's

So...
As golf reaches to the latest driver that will improve your game.... Love what you buy and play the best you can with whatever you believe in....

If I could only have 1 that would mean all the
rest had to be sold to pay cost of living expenses.

That would dictate keeping either the hardest to
sell, most expensive, or least expensive depending
on the market and ones point of view.

That being said, out of a small collection of cues
from Ed Prewitt, Southwest, Tascarella, OMEN,
Bob Hunter, Tad, and Joel Hercek....

I would probably keep the Hunter or Tad.

and of course the case I would keep is my
all business, no bullshit Whitten.

Richard Black Casino model.....

I had Richard make me one of those back in 1981 to replace an ebony 4-point that he made me in 1978, that I regretfully sold when I got the Casino. I sold the 4-point before I put any time on the Casino and found out the 4-point played ten times better. I played better with the 4-point than with any cue I have ever owned...but I was young and played about 50 hours a week at the time.

I bought a McDermott C-14 in 1985 that, to me, played way better than the Casino, so I sold it, too.

I've always thought about having Richard make me another cue and, if I did, it would be another simple 4-point.

Everytime I talk to Richard, he says I have called him from more places in the world than anybody. I have called him from California, the Philippines, Japan, Turkey, North Dakota, Hawaii, and maybe a few more places.

This Frey Sneaky would be the one cue. I just like the way it feels and plays best.
But, I have another Ebony full splice coming so I might have to revisit this in May.
