    Deflection & Ball Size

So thanks to the silly Covid restrictions where I live, I haven't had access to a pool table for about three months. However, there is a snooker club open so I've been going there to hit a few balls. I am still using my pool cue, but of course the snooker balls are a bit smaller than pool balls...

    Judd is bad for pool

Judd was the second best thing that happened to pool in years. The first best thing was Jayson Shaw kicking his ass. The idea that a snooker player would never miss on a pool table and beat high level pool players with ease was dispelled to the dark pits of the snooker snobs imagination. Judd...

And then Jayson Shaw showed up and the snooker snobs have to STFU...

Ball spot or game spot - which is better?

Just how valuable is a "ball spot?" For example, in a race to 8, would it be better to have a one-game start, or be given the 8-ball? Hypothetical matchup for example: SVB vs. Tyler Styer. In an even race to 8, we'd expect SVB to win more than he loses, correct? But at what point would Styer...

after watching mosconi, I'm gona buy a cf shaft.

Don't need black CF to be ultra-low-deflection. The Mezz EX Pro is wood (at least on the outside) and is lower deflection than the Cuetec (particularly when hitting hard). I recently switched, and I love it!

    SVB aiming vid..................

Awhile back, an old-timer I know told me he'd show me a secret technique for making long thin cut shots. Anyways, he then describes to me basically what SVB is saying, or at least part of it, to aim the edge of the shaft at the edge of the ball. I'm listening to the guy and thinking, "this...

    One Pocket Handicapping

Trying to set up a handicapped one-pocket tournament with a wide variation of player abilities. This has resulted in races that exceed the total number of balls on the table. In the extreme case, player one needs 15 balls to win, while player two needs only 3. Question: Is there a standard...

With so many LD shafts on the market now, how can one decide?

If you're a fan of backhanding English, then an LD shaft will challenge you, as it moves the pivot point so much further back. I also was a "backhand" fan, but made the switch to LD a couple years ago, beginning with a Lucasi Zero Flexpoint, and now an OB+1. Some observations. With an LD...

new "Got English?" video showing how to aim when using sidespin

Instead of having to calculate 40% BHE and 60% FHE etc. with a low deflection cue, wouldn't it be easier/more effective to use a cue with a relatively short pivot point (high deflection) and just use 100% BHE for everything?

    Aim/Alignment “seeing more left” question

I struggled with the exact same issue for years! After much experimenting, with stroke, with vision center, with tip placement, various drills and what have you, I found one simple solution that worked better than all others... When moving from standing upright into my stance, I place my right...
