Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

    I'm guessing all non-modified GC's & Diamonds have facing angles somewhere between 141 - 143 degrees then ? Glen ?

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Hi Dave, Maybe change the owner of the Heiron & Smith to "Goldballs mate" ? Goldball doesn't have a table yet, but he is in the market for one. :-) Cheers.

Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

Is 143 degrees really that tough / that unusual ? From the website : http://www.wpa-pool.com/web/WPA_Tournament_Table_Equipment_Specifications Horizontal Pocket Cut Angle: The cut angles of the rubber cushion and its wood backing (rail liner) for both sides of the corner pocket entrance must...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Hi Dave, Goldball mentioned these measurements in another thread of his friends Heiron & Smith table. Maybe add it to ur list ? (or maybe not ?) 8 foot table mouth size 12.2 cm/4.8 inches throat size 8.2 cm/3.22 inches shelf depth 5.4cm/2.12 inches TDF 1.0 It does play very tough along the...

Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

Wow - mouth to throat reduction = 1.6 inches ! And that shelf is deeper than average. If he measured the throat 2 inches back from the mouth (as per the pic) then his facing angle must be huge ??? (147 degrees by my calcs ?) No wonder its a tough table to make pots along the rails ! Cheers.

Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

Depends on the shelf depth maybe ? My shelf is pretty shallow compared to the average perhaps ? I don't get any balls that rattle & spit if hit *straight* along the rail at speed. (maybe that's what u mean by 'down the middle' ?) I measured the pocket angle with that plastic yellow gizmo. Not...

Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

Hey Goldball - check out this thread if u haven't seen it before - might be handy info in ur research for pocket sizes / specs etc. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=324408&page=21 FYI - my table pocket specs are. edited: Mouth 4 10/16 Throat 3 13/16 Shelf 1 1/4 Corner...

Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

Damn that does sound crap indeed. I researched pocket mouth dimensions before my purchase & physically measured / checked the product before buying. Sounds like ur mate didn't ? Seems like one cant rely on a quality snooker table manufacturer like H&S to build a decent pool table. Surprising...

Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

And you're not overly impressed by it by the sounds of it ? Is it 9 foot ? Has it got Simonis on it ? Pockets to big or too small ? or is the shelf depth and/or pocket angles bad somehow ? Rail performance poor somehow ? Musta been nice I bet... As ur in sydney - have u ever checked out the 9...

Have u ever seen a 9 foot diamond around anywhere ? Where were the 7 foot diamonds ? In a pub I'm guessing ? Cheers.

Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

Heiron & Smith - I've seen plenty of their snooker tables but didn't know they made american pool tables as well ? American style pockets ? (straight) or english (rounded) pockets ? It aint a real pool table if the pockets aint straight imo ! (just a smaller sized snooker table) Nice - what...

Black Crown 2 vs Diamond pool table

There's a bar box in most pubs. "Pool comps" are common - but rules are not consistent and are never BIH for fouls. Very few 'pool halls' AFAIK. (in NSW at least) There is an aussie pool league though I believe - dont know much else except that it exists. (I'm just a home player - I hate the...
