    GRIP - thumb pressure

I have a question to you guys, how many of you apply pressure with the thumb when holding the cue and how much apply none? (or just little pressure). I'm now more confused than ever and don't know what the thumb should be doing. Regards.

your thoughts on NO WARM UP STROKES

I always thought that it was quite easy to decelerate, as it is said to be caused by the tightening of the grip hand too early which appears to be a common problem. I am a follower of doing max 3 feathers as I think the more feathers you have the more opportunity for your body to move and more...

your thoughts on NO WARM UP STROKES

there have been a few threads on the snooker forum on whether or not to feather. Some people (including coaches) mentioned that feathering might not work for everybody as it teaches students to stop the cue at the cue ball thus causing DECELERATION. On the contrary others say it's useful as it...

    Question about Grip

I'm not an instructor and I'm mediocre player at best but I am an avid reader of the snooker forum (TSF) because I want to learn the game and I am sure it has been mentioned by acclaimed instructors ( Nic Barrow, Terry Davidson) that the thumb should apply no pressure. From what I remember they...

    Question about Grip

I have read on snooker forums that the thumb should apply no pressure at all and which fingers we use to hold the cue is a matter of preference - index fingers, first two fingers, or back fingers etc.

    stroke update 2

Thanks  I've been focusing on a very slow backswing with the rear pause lately and decided to trying doing this without warm-up strokes. And I'm feeling pretty fine with this but I will probably implement some short ones soon.

    stance - knees

Could anybody please tell me where the left KNEE should be pointing for right hander? (right leg straight, left leg bent, square stance). Towards the line of the aim or rather inwards? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the explanation of the rear pause. I think I will stick to it as I also have heard from snooker TSF forum posters that there are many benefits deriving from the rear pause, such as: smooth acceleration , focusing eyes on the OB, driving through the ball, better follow through etc..

yes, i know, i was referring to a distinctive pause of which he speaks in the video (one, two, fire)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BfHCP-mmks this guy actually claims that pause is very difficult to implement and warns that one should be careful before trying to take it into the game. I myself find it problematic to keep it consistent and wonder if it's worth trying to learn it or just...

i took up the 10 ghost-ball drill test today and scored 24 points. Could have been better, could have been worse. There's obviously a lot of variance in this drill.
