Bank finals happened on correct day. One Pocket finals looked like they would happen on Thursday. Until the final 3 players all had buybacks, which pushed the finals into Friday

With the increase in field size the race to 9 doesn't seem manageable anymore.

The first step needs to be moving the 9 ball back to races to 7. If they wanted races to 9 after round 10 that would probably work as well. Everyone points to banks and one pocket being that hold up, but I think it is the extra games added to 9 ball.
