    Want-to-see Current/Modern Fancy Sneakies

Back in my day a sneaky pete was a plain house cue with a joint on it. Now days you got purple heart and steel joints and white butt caps. Its like people choose to identify their cue as a sneaky pete no matter what it looks like. And now they call them fancy sneaky Pete's and all kinds of...

    Quiet Eye Theory

I pick an object about 7-10 feet away and see how long I can stare at it without my eyes reverting to something else. I'd recommend starting with 1 minute. The trick is to try and relax while you're doing it. And yes, you are allowed to blink, you just can't move your line of sight from that...

    Does size matter?

No, I'm not talking about shafts. I'm referring to the butt of the cue. Personally I prefer a large butt diameter for a cue. I've noticed most modern cues have skinnier butts and I was wondering why that is. To me it's easier to grip a cue with a large butt. What advantages are there to a...

    Best Playing Cue Builder

It's true that Tim Scruggs was a machinist and it that's the reason he was hired to work for Joss. However, he learned how to build cues from Dan Janes

    Best Playing Cue Builder

Yeah, but I can build a chair, it won't be fancy but if you are under 200lbs and sit on it there's a decent chance it won't break. That doesn't necessarily make me a furniture maker. Just because he built a few sticks doesn't make him a cuemaker imo.

    Best Playing Cue Builder

An off topic story: Dan Janes who taught Tim Scruggs how to build cues said he was one of the most god awful players he saw. I guess you don't have to be a good player to make a great cue.

    Best Playing Cue Builder

I thought about mentioning Sigel but it's a stretch to call him a cue maker. Did he even take any custom orders? If you do consider him a cuemaker then obviously he's number one.

A couple questions about Palmer Cues and older cues makers in general.

I think the main reason items become valuable is nostalgia. When a generation becomes wealthy the items that were popular when they were young increase in value, then when that generation gets too old to use those items or pass away the value dramatically goes down. This applies to everything...

The best stroke/cue action you have seen

Earl Strickland all day, he's the best I've ever seen at the power draw and follow shot. He can even do a power draw shot while jumping the ball with a full length cue. Fedor probably has the most smooth and mechanically sound stroke. He does drop his elbow but that's not a big deal imo.

    Best Playing Cue Builder

As far as cue builders who were good players a few come to mind for me Garten Bierbower- he was a road player at one time in his life and Max Eberle stated he was the best 9 ball player he ever saw. Dennis Searing- I heard he played on the pro curcuit in Florida for a short period of time...

Yeah, but it would make for a funny story when people ask how I got shot.

    Fast Eddie the chalk hustler

You just gave me an idea. I buy that chalk and re rap it with the master logo. Then when I'm in a cash game I set that chalk out for my opponent to use and just use my own personal chalk. Not bad huh.

    My “Notorious” Jackpot

It's funny, it seems those cues are becoming somewhat collectable just due to the story behind them.

Top custom cue makers who's cues appreciate over time.

I don't think many custom cues will be a good investment like they used to be. The reason the old school cues like Balabushka and Szamboti are valuable is because the kids growing up in that time period knew that's what the pros and rich people had and when they became older and more wealthy...
