Are Top Level Pool Players Better Today?

I don't think the equipment changes in pool have had near the impact that they've had in golf. Yes, low deflection shafts make a difference, but even today there are some pros who play with standard maple shafts. Fewer and fewer as time goes on, but they exist. Low deflection helps a...

    Who remembers this?

Don't have any like that but I have a stack of like 5 or so of the modern Revo ones from Predator. No real use for them but I hold onto them for some reason. Didn't realize they were likely based on this design, first time I'd ever received a cue/shaft in something like that was my first Revo.

your paying too much for cues

Actually it is a word. MW considers it non standard but they do consider it a word. Language evolves and, through usage, words get added. This is one of those. Not a word I use, but to say it’s not a word is incorrect. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irregardless

    Samsung TV channel streaming pool

It's a nice feature, I watch it sometimes actively but it's also my go to for when I just need something on in the background or while I'm waiting for something to start. I love being able to just click on a channel streaming pool of some sort all the time

your paying too much for cues

I don't disagree a good playing cue can be affordable. If all you want is a standard maple shaft and decent playability I think something can likely be found for $100-200 easy enough. If you want really solid quality that isn't just a basic sneaky or a painted piece of plain maple then going...

    Predator True-splice (full splice)

I have to agree. I've had my share of nice custom cues. Currently have a couple Rundes and a South West Satin. I started the transition to Predator by getting a Revo for my Runde. Loved how it played but didn't match up at the joint which was slightly bothersome but I could get over it...

    Sold 👑Classic King 2x5/3x4👑

Someone needs to buy this before I make a bad and financially irresponsible decision. I really want this case, love the two tone brown. Don't need a new case though (already have a King I love!) and don't have the extra cash for one....but the temptation is getting hard to resist....

Cloned playing cue vs cue designed for breaking

I personally think there definitely some benefit to a harder tip. Some of that is in power transfer, though I don't actually thing that difference is huge. But just in tip longevity and shape holding for a break cue a hard tip is nice. Beyond that, I think a good stiff taper and a reasonably...

    Predator Revo Shaft Weight

Just some info I found on the Predator site. With regards to customization, weights of 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 are available. While not stated, tolerances would still apply I believe as backed up by the second link I'll post...

Joint pin choice, Radial or 3/8x10?

If you're only going to use the builders shafts then I don't think it matters much, both are good big pin options. I like radial for the consistency. 3/8x10 comes in lots of different variations it seems and so other shafts may or may not be a solid fit.

    Predator Revo Shaft Weight

Were they both purchased new? I believe Predator can build to custom weights via special order, pretty sure I heard that somewhere. If the lighter was purchased used possible it was done on request? I just weighed my Revo playing shafts that I have with the following results: 12.4 with...

    Jump Cue Recommendations

Jacoby for dart style for sure. I have one and it’s fantastic, super easy to jump with. Recently “upgraded” to the AirRush and while I do like the additional length for longer jumps I’m still learning the underhand and side arm jump technique and not great at it yet. It jumps fine dart...

Sick and tired of Predator “nightmare customer service” 😠

This was my experience too. Had a tip pop off a new Revo, sent me a return shipping label and had the cue turned around and back on the way to me in less than 24 hours from when they received it. Came back perfect and tip has stayed put. I was very happy with Predator customer service, they...

    Anyone have a Segen?

Never owned one but go to meet Evan and get a shop tour from him when they were just getting things rolling there. He had a real nice setup going, very clean and modern production space....vastly different from the experience of visiting Schon which is kinda the exact opposite of that. I was...

New here. New to forums. Yikes. Could be trouble.

Welcome! I’m also in Wisco, Madison area for me. Great pool scene in Wisconsin, not to mention all the cue makers, great spot to be as a pool player!

    My 1 day expo review

Nice to hear. It has seemed like pool has been a bit on the upswing lately, just locally been seeing new and younger players around and it’s been really great to see. Glad to hear it seems to be reflected there as well. Oh, and you’ll forget about that bill soon enough I’m sure. I pulled the...

What tip you do you play with?

Switched to Revo shafts this year and am using the stock Victory Soft tips and really like them. Not sure if it’s the tip or the prep/install but they mushroom much less than I’ve experienced with Kamui or similar. They don’t seem to get a lot of love but I think they’re great and definitely...
