If I could own "anything" it would be a Gus Szamboti cue with a nice 12.5mm shaft, long taper, moori tips. Preferably 19 oz.

I will say though, that it would be hard to find anything that played much better to me than my Steve Klein. She is all broken in, and runs out pretty darn GOOD! I haven't even been tempted to hit a ball with the pretty little Scruggs in my avatar.

What i don`t understand in some answers to this thread is that some people listing foe the best playing cues in one post both, flat faced and stainless steel joints, but both delivers a totally different hit.
For me personally, i can`t get used to ss and piloted joints but that is to each different.
The best playing cue for me is Harris/Bluegrass.

by the way, i paid for mine BEM Bluegrass 900$ .
and it was nearly mint.

Let me put it another way. If you had $1000 sets lined up and lost your playing cue. What would you want to play with?
No doubt ,When that is the question in $1000sets and higher I play the prototype cue made by the engineer in Dallas, that is why I started marketing them. The cue plays so solid, puts lots of spin when I need it,reqires no adjustments for side english.I liked it so much that i told the AZ about it and sold dozens of the cues.

So far every buyer has spoken highly about the way it plays.

This cue is not fancy and is not finished out the way a top custom cue is,but if your only goal is to play good enough to win the money as mine is,then this is the cue to play.

ps I have showed this to many fine cue makers and they have agreed, one of the finest told me he played his best pool ever with a thick tapered shaft like this, but he sells pro taper because people think thats what they need.

if anyone wants to discuss this, feel free to call 214 477 7323.

Sorry for the confusion. If I am betting the $1000 I would play the Southwest.

I don't mean $1000 price point, a mean if you were gambling for $1000. What cue would you want to be playing with. Not to look at, collect, resell, but if $$$ is on the line, what to play withh.
thanks-jeff

I'm curious. Out of all of those suggestions....how many of you have played with them? The guys who tout their own playing cues are easy to believe, but as I sit here wishing for a nice Mottey, Searing or Szamboti I realize that I have no clue how any of them hit. I love my McDaniels and my BCM davis blank...both under a grand.

Cues all lost

$1000.00 sets. Straight house cue with a good tip. Cost-free! If I lost my cue I don't think I would ever buy another. I have already had a Balabushka stolen and if my Cochran turns up gone I would just quit playing.

If I could only have one cue to play with........

I would have to select from the following:

Gus Szamboti
Dennis Searing
Barry Szamboti
John Showman
South West
Abe Rich

Sir,......................?......................at this time I am unable to answer that question.

I guess the only thing I can say is that my player has been a Searing since September 21, 1997, maybe I just answered the question.

I own and play with all of the above, I guess I'm kinda partial to a Searing.

I'm currently playing with a Searing bar cue break/jump conversion with a stainless radial pin.....The cue plays so amazing it actually blows my mind.

I'm going to try one of Rick Howards cues to see if I like a Flat face/ big pin. The last ff joint I had was a Bluegrass, and that has been long enough ago that I need to try one again. Other than what I've had, here's a wish list of cues to try.

Piloted
1.)Szamboti
2.)Gina
2a.)Tad

Flatfaced
1.) Southwest
2.) Josswest
2a.)Howard/Gilbert

If I like the Flat faced howard I'll strart on the bottom list - if not to the top we go. Just a reminder I've already tried...
Hercek,Tascarella,Scruggs,White, Runde Schon, Jensen ,Rauenzahn, Bluegrass, Olney,Blackcreek, Schuler and more. A few of these play great, all play good.

An ivory joint Mcdaniel with cored ebony forearm! Recently acquired it and has been playing with it since I received it 3-4 months ago. All the Bill McDaniel cues that I've played with are very consistent and solid. Next up on my list would be my 21.5 oz Joel Weinstock cue..(My Money Cue) that I've been playing with for a while now.

I'm sure any other custom cues will be good but to each their own. Just have to try to all first to know what you like and don't. If you haven't taste bitter, how the heck are you going to know if the cues you're playing with is the sweetest?

Rick's cues play very very well ... and they are very reasonably priced.

And while you put Tad in "piloted"section, I have flat faced Tad (3/8x12 thread) with solid micarta joint that plays lights out.

Meucci's still the One !!!!

1. Meucci Originals
2. Meucci Originals
3. and another MEUCCI !! ORIGINALS !!

:D :D :D :D :D

IMHO it is not the Cue,
arff.gif
but the person who hand the Cues is in,
arff.gif
as the Best Player in the World would still be that with a House Cue, Chalk, and some Sand Paper to shape the Cues Tip.

IMHO.
