I'm looking into buying a new cue case. But can't find out wats the best for my money? any tips or help?

I could sing the praises of my Jim Murnak case all day!

I received pictures via email as he progressed, but I couldn't have been more prepared for the beauty of it when I finally received it. Also, Jim's one of the nicest guys you could ever work with.

Not only is my case gorgeous - I receive countless compliments on it - it's sturdy. I fly with it and have never had a problem with baggage handlers roughing it up. I always know my cues are safe :)

He has a wide selection to choose from for every person's budget: www.jimmurnakcuecases.com

Now thats a nice case. But don't get me wrong I love my case I just want a new one.

You cant go wrong with a porper case. They have a lifetime warranty, and they are made in the USA. I have 2 of them, one is over 15 years old and is still holding up well. They dont look as fancy as other cases, but they serve the purpose for a very reasonable price.

Well I don't know if you ever seen or heard of it but my case is a John Hager case. I just want a newer look maybe a better built one 2!

Marissa - your Murnak is really gorgeous! I bet you were knocked out when you got it in hand. I had him make me a 2x5 - not nearly as ornate, sparse tooling at horizontal seams. Great cases. A tad bigger than equivalent by other makers, but i like that the fit is roomy, actually. Each unit has a separate tube, I had mine made with an "inset" so the parts are easily accessible (if I have to pour cue parts out of a case I don't keep it), and I don't have any concerns about movement within the individual tubes causing damage as some do.
Also CHRIS_SPORT, JB can make you a great case - and it doesn't have to be a 2k tooled work of art. John, you had an oiled leather case on Roy's site that I wish I'd have seen before it sold. Love the look of oiled leather, and that one was awesome AND a steal!

There are many case makers and lots of opinions out there. I'll offer my two cents and wish you luck with your decision.

Whitten cases are my first choice for value

They are proven to be excellent at keeping moisture away from your cues. Ernie Gutierrez of Ginacue includes one with each cue. I'm told he hydrometer tested the major case maker's work and found Whitten to be the best choice for his product.

Whitten cases come with spring loaded shaft tubes and a spacer system so you can easily reach your shaft for removal. The tubes accommodate longer cues or cues with joint protectors.

Whitten cases are easily customized. Inlays, leather choices and leather combinations, nameplates and design additions like pockets and handles are all chosen by you. Even a Whitten "light" is offered. You can choose how many butts and shafts you want to store, if you want the case to free stand on its own or be thin and streamlined.

Lastly, the Whitten case sells well on the secondary market. It is a pricy case, but the depreciation when you sell it is often a much lower percentage of its original value than the "value" alternatives.

They tend to last forever. I have one of Dan Whitten's first cases and it still looks new, after more than 25 years of use. No sagging or buldging near the bottom like other case designs. No separation of inner fabrics like so many tube case designs. Whittens can last a lifetime.

Having one turns heads in the pool room, or if you dress it down, keeps you invisible.

Here is a picture of one Joe Whitten did to match an old ivory Meucci of mine. He inlayed an ivory tusk slab with Bob Meucci's prototype for the crown in his first Crown Jewel cue. I couldn't be more proud of a case, or more pleased with its value. The case enhances the cue as it protects.

I like my Joe Porper vinyl case for an out in the elements league night case. Vinyl does better in the rain, IMO. The only problem with the Porper cases is that they are too short for JP's on thew butt. I think the screw acttually pokes through some hard foam. They hold the cue very tight. Mine is 15 years old and still looks new.

Drawman623 is telling nothin' but the truth about Whittens. I had one & the only thing I didn't like - the reason I got rid of it - was that access to the cue was iffy, even with the spacers. The new Whitten Lite cases appear to have an inset below the lid that looks to provide a big improvement on that score. So much as to tempt me to get one.

hager

Chris,
Do you have pics of your hager case.I've only seen one or two before,
and I think they are pretty neat. Why do you want annother one?
What's gonna happen to the hager?I was thinking of getting a hager.
What do you feel or the pros and cons of a Hager case?
