LF - Older Schon Player's Cue.....

Heya, all.

Since my (formerly) Runde sneaky is gone, gone, gone...I thought I'd hit up the AZB population with this:

Looking to find an OLDER Schon player's cue.
80's to EARLY 90's.
PJ or simple 4-pointer.
Micarta ferrule(s) a plus.
19-19.5 ounces in weight.
STRAIGHT AND SOUND CUES ONLY, PLEASE!!!!!

I had an older ebony 4-pointer as well as a slightly tweaked SL1 that both played great...and looking to find something along those lines.

Definitley budget conscious...so please don't hit me back with an R12, unless you're selling it at SL1 price!!! :D:D

Hit me up if you've got one, and we'll go from there.

Thanks,

Rat

just had a quick question as to why the micarta ferrule is a PLUS?!? ...in your opinion or in general....i hear that a lot. r they rare or something valuable? thanks.

"Micarta" is still made but what he is looking for isn't. It's asbestos based and no longer leagal to produce. It plays well and can also tell a bit of a story as to how old the cue might be...

Yep....what he said!! :D

Of the 10 (or more) Schon cues I've owned over the years, my two personal favorites had that old Westinghouse Micarta for the ferrules. For some reason (and I'm sure it's mental....since I'M mental), I felt as though they had the "hit" I wanted.

That said, I've played with some cues that have the newer Micarta, and they were nice, too. I'd prefer the old stuff...since an older Schon would be ideal with the older shafts to go with it.

Thx,

Rat

Thanks much, sir! Hope it finds me, too!

Those two that stick out in my mind the most were both amazing players. Would love to have one back in the bag. They play phenomenally well, are affordable, and fairly bullet-proof!

Have a great weekend, boss.

Wish I could help with your search, I've got exactly what you're looking for but have never felt anything that's close so there is no way I could part with it. I have to agree with you though, there is something about those old micarta ferrules...luckily I've had mine since the early 90s and both shafts still have the original ones.

Best of luck in the search.

You just need to sell yours to me and go looking for something else. See?? Problem solved!!!!!! :D:D

Glad to hear there's another one out there that feels the same way I do about those old Schon cues. I gotta get me one.

Should I PM you my mailing address? You can box it up and ship tomorrow, right?!?! :)

I have a Schön ST-1 with cocobolo diamonds & the old hollow style pin that I'm looking to sell soon. Doesn't have a micarta fertile though. It has a later shaft with Schön marked on the wood, ivory ferrule. Cue is straight, shaft is baby smooth and the butt has a few very minor marks from being played. I can get you pics soon if interested. If not, I'll be posting a thread for it sometime...

Heya, Chris!

Saw those, sir...but sadly, above my budget. Great cues, though. That hoppe TS cue is sweet!!!

Hope you're well. Take care,

BUMP IT ON UP, YA'LL. PMs replied to...and have leads on a couple nice ones. Awaiting pics and specs info...but for now, still hunting.

Ok I'm out of town right now but I'll be back mid next week & I can get some pics up

Found some not very good pics from after I bought it saved on my computer. Gotta get back to the cue for better pics etc. but here it is for now! :D Schon ST-1

The cue is the same inlay/ring combination as the third pic, which is an STL-2. My ST-1 has the older pin style. Better pics including pics of shaft coming mid-next week when I get back.
