West System

i thought mine was as simple as it can get

i like simple

example:
after zeroing cup out on scale
add .750 of resin in cup
my chart tells me i have to add .203 of the 207 to get to a total of .953 ounce

if using the 206 hardener ,
add .150 to get total of .900 ounce

it's all at a glance tacked on the wall in the shop
i've found it's easier to find my wall,
than it is my damn calculator when i need it :D

OUNCES BRENT ???
Better switch to grams.

here's what i think about that:thumbup:
two methods
two same results
grew up in the age before the metric system was shoved down you younger guys throats
only the correct ratios are important
how you get there can be done many ways as seen so far in this thread

i was going to save that sandwich cut two different ways
for the next what's best question thread
3/8x10 or 3/8 x11 :rotflmao1:

mix one batch by grams and one batch by ounces
see if they both arent hockey pucks in the 24 hours

few days i ago i mixed three cups side by side
three pumps from the 105
all three were different, close but not exactly the same
then three pumps of the 207, it probably varied a little too
all three cups had a thin hockey puck in them the next day

me thinks there's some leeway allowed in the mix
unlike the cocaine deals ;)

been using my system ever since i got this scale from dickie,
what, two or three months ago ?
it saves a bunch
no failures
no chewing gum glue-ups

Thanks Brent. I agree it is alot easier without messing with a calculator.

Use a triple beam and never be in doubt.

i spent a lot of time on it
nobody gave it a second look

Want a little whine with your cheese and crackers?:crying:

I will take the ounces sandwich 1/2 on the left. It has more jam.

here you go

Why multiply by 4.5? shouldn't it be 3.7? Or am I missing something??

This is right off of the instructions printed inside the lid on Small Batch mixing scale sold by West System (it even has thier name on it). If using the 205 hardner the process is the same except you multiply by 6 and add the resin to that amount.

Cannot find a calculator Brent?

well I have seen your shop. I think the reason you bought such a big lathe is so you can find it easier under the sawdust! LOL, could not pass up the shot, how are you my friend? Lou.

Hi,

I agree that you want to get as accurate a measure as possible and weighing by grams surely is going to work very well.

If it was that critical they would direct you to take weight measurements. The pump method has got to be less accurate.
