TAR format I would like to see

I think the races to 25 are a good step but I would like to see one more step if we could get players to try it?

First to win 7 races to 9, 10 or 11.
Could break it up the same as the races to 100.
Four sets on day one so it would be played to a score of 4-0, 2-2 or 3-1, could call it a night at 3 zip, we all have bad days?
Next days score could end on 7-0 or 7-1 not too likely other scores would be 6-2, 5-3, 4-4
Finish on day 3 if needed with some possible hill hill, hill matches?
If last day is not needed I’m sure something smaller could fill the slot, even a past match?
Daz might like this format better, now if we could just find someone to play him?

Why I like it is because of the added pressure, excitement and action. I know the guys or gals in the box have enough pressure and probably don’t want any more but I feel the fans need a little more and I think the added pressure could help show who the better player is also, nothing better than 5 setters in Tennis.
I know players want the longer set to show who is better but I think the better player will win races to 7 sets just as often if not more often than a race to 75 or 100, might be easier for some players to free stroke in longer races than it is in sets?

15 minute breaks between sets so the railbirds can regroup, lol
I think the side action would increase with every set getting action with the overall still getting the same amount and think that would think increases interest and viewers?

Wouldn’t mind seeing another All Around match either.

TAR is doing a great job no matter what, these are just my thoughts and they’re a little long for the chat on Thursday nights :) I loved the races to 100 since the beginning but have also been against it in thinking that breaking it up to sets will generate more interest. All the best to TAR!

I'm way ahead of you. This is almost the identical format that I'll be using starting in February when I begin holding live events. Only a few minor changes to ensure that the 3rd day is the climax and that each day isn't quite so long.

Four events are already in the works, two of which are confirmed.

Speaking of Darren, Daz versus Morris is one of the unconfirmed events, as Daz is still looking for a partial backer. He stands a very strong chance of winning that match with the shorter race format.

Official details to come around xmas.

I agree it would be a very exciting format. I think your set up might be too long. First to win 7 could be 13 possible sets. In theory, if all went hill-hill, you could have 221 total games played.

Maybe race to 11, best of 7 or even best of 5. A best of 7 all hill-hill would only be 147 games, which is less than most of the races to 100 (Maybe this is what you meant).

Still a great idea. You could see blow out sets and very close dramatic sets all in the same match. I remember Justin talking about maybe trying to use the tennis format in the future. Would be cool to see.

Actually, there's so many reasons to have it this way over a single long race. For one, it's more practical. Most players that gamble are accustomed to playing multiple sets. I know from personal experience, I might fall behind in a set because I'm out of tune and instead of feeling added pressure to try and mount a comeback, I can just re-tune my stroke in preparation for the next set.

From a railbird's perspective, I think there's simply going to be far more action when it's broken up this way. In a single race to 100, it's hard to bet on anything other than winner/loser and the spread which means if you didn't place a bet before action began, you're likely not going to be able to make a fair bet in mid-action. With multiple sets, there's always an opportunity to bet money on your horse. Hell, you can probably even switch horses.

On the other hand, the marathon set-up is unique. It's something you're just not going to see in any other setting and for that reason alone, I hope it doesn't go anywhere.

Personally, I like the marathon set up. I would like to see another all around title again too.

Nathan you are dead on as usual... In a long set you cannot try and get even or keep running... You place your bet and you wait it out... with having to win 7 you get multiple shots at putting your money in action to grow it or retrieve it.....

I just wish they would legalize internet gambling here and half of the battle to put pool on the map again is over.......

i think a battle of the sexes match would be fun.
Maybe a good amateur like me could play a woman pro like jeanette lee or ga young.

I wasnt asking why you shoulsd play a her...it sounded like elmer fudd when I typed it!

Besides...you need to give those 2 a little spot and you know it!

I dont think I can beat Ga Young. I asked her to gamble once in florida and she responded" I dont wanna break you" in broken english. I told her to get her cue... lol
