I am thinking of ordering either a Lomax or a Hanshew jump cue. I have never tried either one but heard some good things about both. I was looking for your guys opinion on which I should go with.

Thanks

Can't speak for Hanshew, but love my Lomax.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Heck, I've got a cheap Tadpole and it jumps like a scared cat. I've got cheap Action J/B cues that I have little problem jumping with the "jump" portion of the cues.

I would think that with the reputation/acccolades these two jump cues you are looking at have, that you would at the very least have a better jump cue than I have, and mine work just fine.

Good luck in your choice.

Jump well, my friend!!!

Go with separate dedicated cues

Just my opinion, but jumping and breaking are two very different things, and if you want a good break cue, it may not jump well, and vice versa.
For example, I've tried a lot of jump cues, but found nothing that could out-jump my cheap bunjee jump cue.

And I don't know what if anything would be better for the break than a BK2,3, or SLEDGEHAMMER...BUT I DO KNOW THAT THE SHAFTS ARE DIFFERENT...and the tips need to be different.

ThAt bunjee also has available 5" extension, which I love, for long jumps...super accurate...

Good luck.
Oh, P.S. ...ODEGA BREAK TIP... !!!!
The best for breaking, it's leather, and hard as a rock, but won't mis-cue like a phenolic when u miss center-ball on the break !

Jump Cue

Thanks for all the responses. Whichever cue I get will be strictly a jump cue. Does anybody know the price of a hanshew jump cue?

I was also in the market about 2 years ago, Funny thing I had narrowed my choice down to the same, Lomax and Hanshew. I ended up winning the Hanshew in a raffle on one of Big Trucks streams. The Hanshew is a FANTASTIC jump cue. It is a very versatile jump cue. You are able to do ALL possible jumps shots with it. My friend liked mine so much that he bought a hanshew as well. The Hanshew was around $150 last time I had looked.

Hanshews are $150(regular)-$200(fancier)
I doubt you can get 1 though, unless you find a used one. He makes about 40-50 a year, around September at Texas Open time.

Without 1 doubt the best jumper that has ever seen the planet earth.
SVB wanted one, but can't because of sponsors.
Donny Mills wanted one in Vegas, then waitied to long to buy it and they were sold out..
Robb Saez bought one after trying it out at the Texas open. And one other top guy bought one there as well.

Hanshew did just send a bunch of them overseas with Oscar Dominguez I think he said at the last world event for some players over there.

Everyone in Texas swears by them. Well 99%

That purleheart shaft makes it simple to jump, because its a heavy shaft I guess and makes it follow thru very easily.

if i know donny, he was just to cheap to spend the cash..lmao

Easy way to figure out what jumps better is take someone about 5ft. tall, let them use every cue. They are the ideal customer for this report. Reason being they cant get high enough already, so the cue has to do almost all the work for them.

Never really heard of Hanshew before. You made me a believer now!
I've been looking for a Lomax, but will now be looking for a Hanshew at almost half the price.
I tried a guys full length breaker in Vegas last year, it was made of purpleheart. The cue jumped as good as a jumper! I'm very interested that these cues have purpleheart shafts.
Thanks for the advice.

Then the answer is simple...what cue does Alex Pagulayan use to jump?

Jump cue

Before he signed the Cuetec deal Shane was using a Hanshew. James is a pretty good guy.

I can't speak for Lomax, but I loved my Hanshew.

Lomax cues are great. And easy to get ahold of, so more people use them and get a chance to.
With that being said, I bet EVERYONE hollering lomax in here has never used a hanshew, as they are very rare to get. I've used both, theres no jump cue that compares to a hanshew.

You know when top players have to buy it, and don't get it free as a sponsor type thing that theres something special about a product, as they don't like to pay for many things billiard related.
