Hi Gerry,

Nice shooting.

Between your 3 trials of the test, did you work on the individual aspects repeatedly? Or did you just do the entire drill 3 times with no practice of the shots in between?

Is anybody going to challenge Gerry, or even come close?

I was also hoping more people would post at the lower end and comment on how well they think the rating system works. I haven't tested it very much at either extreme.

Many of you have expressed interest or implied you might do the exams, but haven't posted results yet. Please consider doing so.

FYI, below is the current updated list (with a 10-ball-ghost score from 12squared). It looks like the high end of Joe Tucker's rating system might be a little generous. Both Gerry and 12squared are great players (12squared could have done much better on the BU Exams with more practice), but they probably belong in the "semi pro" (A++/AAA) category instead.

I look forward to seeing more scores and videos. I also look forward to your comments about how well you think the BU rating system works as compared to the JT 10-ball-ghost system.

I got your table info from the table-difficulty-factor thread (TDF). I decided to not officially adjust the BU scores based on the TDF. The TDF is for unofficial "perspective" or rough comparisons only.

I've added you to the list (see below).

Please try the 10-ball ghost rating drill when you can find some time and post the results here.

I also look forward to seeing how much you can improve. Please post a new score (and videos if possible) after you've had time to practice with the BU Exams.

I redid Part 2 of the exam today, scored 81. Got interrupted once and camera shut off once, must be some sort of limit on my phone. Luckily I've learned a few tricks - keep the volume up so I hear if it shuts off, and turn airplane mode on so the recording is not interrupted by calls or texts.

Total best score is now 76 + 81 = 157. I doubt I could get much more than a few extra points on this if I kept on trying. It's not too bad to get a solid or even perfect score after the first 4 exercises, but then everything has to align to not lose points on the safety, kicking, and banking sections. I think my scores on the elevation and jump/masses sections would be consistent (would assume 5 out of 7 on each), and the break is only worth 5 so getting a 2 or 3 is not too costly. But those other three it's easy to lose points by the ball just leaking out a bit or just missing the kick/bank.

I think my practical best would be perfect on the first 4, 11/14 on the safety, 6/7 kicking, 5/7 elevation, 4/7 banking, 5/7 jump, and 3/5 break, so total of 87. Would be tough to do in reality, all planets would have to be aligned...

Maybe I'll try some more, also intend to do Part 1 again. I'll post the vids when I get a chance.

I redid Part 2 of the exam today, scored 81. Got interrupted once and camera shut off once, must be some sort of limit on my phone. Luckily I've learned a few tricks - keep the volume up so I hear if it shuts off, and turn airplane mode on so the recording is not interrupted by calls or texts.

Total best score is now 76 + 81 = 157.

Wow! That's a big improvement. I'm glad you were able to surpass one of Gerry's high scores.

You just need a few more points to reach the "semi pro" category with Gerry's top score. It seems like you have a good chance to even de-thrown Gerry. Thanks. Based on your BU score, I would have expected you to do a little better on the 10-ball ghost drill. I bet you could do a little better with some more practice.

If you practice more with the BU Exams, please post a new score (and videos if possible) in the future so we can see how much you can improve with practice.
