wouldnt this look great in a design as a cue inlay???

thanks jake i know you understand the complex aspect to building some of the littlest parts and the grapes are soo tiny that in the grand scheme of things it is subtle!
Mia the cue makers seen the whole design and they would not attempt it . too much at stake if one thing does not come together

ahh, i see now. There's quite a bit of tricky going on in this cue. I appreciate the methodology and perseverance as much as the art.
Since starting to build cues, i'm often presented the opportunity to make a decision at some point.
The question is: do i go ahead and take the easy way, which will produce almost identical results and 99% of the population will never notice, or do i go to the extra step that will only be noticed and appreciated by few? Thomas seems to follow through well in these cases when it comes to being true to the cause and being brilliantly creative when a machining obstacle presents itself. I appreciate it even more knowing that he could have saved a mountain of hours and still got the same money for the cue

here are the red fire opals! these inlay are small enough to fit a whole group of 20 grapes inside a 13mm tip
So imagine putting 20+inlay and some vining and veneer work on the tip of your pool cue.
the overall this cue is stunning!

I truly ppreciate the breathtaking amount of work in this cue, but I don't understand the wood handle at all. For me, the grain is distracting and takes your eyes off the fabulous veneer work and inlays. Maybe that was the plan. I've never been much of a fan of such a long butt sleeve, but I certainly understand the need for it with this design.

Love the veneers, colors, rings, etc...really exquisite workmanship. Don't think I've ever seen grapes in a cue before. I can't help but think of the "Fruit of the Loom guys" seeing all those grapes (hope I'm not alone in that...or maybe the guys in the white coats will be coming to take me away soon...lol). Seriously, sitting and staring at all this small, tight inlay work would probably drive many a cuemaker to needing a straitjacket and padded cell, at the very least a two week vacation. :)

Has this jewel been dubbed anything?

Should be entered in voting for cue of yr, now I see red grapes, it's growing on me.

I think you just did "Fruit of the Loom Cue"

In the early posts, when you said that 4 cuemakers claimed it couldn't be done, I almost replied that if Thomas Wayne says it cannot be done, then I'll believe you. No surprise that he was the artist.

Amazing!

Winner Winner chicken Dinner.

21st century Marquetry.

Thomas is in a league of his own out in the ionosphere somewhere.

And I cant figure out the critical nature of this forum i post 2 world class cues from 2 of the best cue makers in the world and they tear them apart... Thomas's cue is the very best work i have seen in tolerance and execution and the hardest veneer pattern built to date... and they acted like it has nothing on there 4 point dot and diamond larry cue or bob madof investment cue!
so i thought i would give them something out of my personal collection from a world renowned traditional cue builder and the only cue he built like it and you think i polished a turd and put it on here
And what is more hilarious is you read a thread on a unheard of cue maker with no inlay and you would think that george B came back from the grave to make one more cue!!LOL no ROMAL!!!

No larry it didnt!! you make a beautiful cue and and i used your example because you liked it ! so i knew it would give you alot of hits.and your cue got nothing but raves , rightly soo! but i was doing a comparison as you as a newer cue maker and the hate that comes from the peanut gallery about non traditional cues ! I did not mean to offend you and totally sorry to use you as example but you received the most favorable replies on az and you were one that said cue of the year... thats why i put rolmao lol! your cue is great but they rave about one thing and then tear apart another.. they them selves dont understand the amount of work in this and you and alton did! kudos to you! And a humble apology to you if i offended you .. i was laughing that they tore it apart and you raved about it (you being a cuemaker and understand) but the peanut gallery piped in on someones masterpiece.... It could have came across in the way i did not intend it .. I ask for your acceptance of this apology and if there is anything i can do for you please ask! Respectfully

I'm sorry that you feel that an opinion about the design of the cue contradictory to your own is not relevant.

I do understand and appreciate the amount of work and the level of difficulty shown. That is why I complimented the veneers.

In my Personal opinion the colors in the cue don't work . The dark wood handle is an especially poor choice and the grapes while incredibly difficult I find them to be an odd choice for a cue unless maybe you owned a winery or something.

The fruit of the loom thing was a shot at Thomas not you sorry if you took it that way. He and I have been known not to see eye to eye.

In the future I will keep all my opinions to myself.
