I bought this cue.
It arrives today and its clearly coccobolo!!! As reddish brown as can be.
Shaft is not straight and sanded down to 12mm, not full dimension as described.
So I ask for a 40 dollar credit...not much to ask for obvious misrepresentation.
OldOrvis is a cue collector and tells me today that he cant tell ebony from coccobolo? What a bunch of horseshit.
Now I am supposed to return the cue, god knows if I trust him to risk returning it.
I think its time to play the chargeback card. No way I willvreturn the cue untul th money is first returned to me.
My offer of a 40 dollar credit was more than fair. Leavs me wanting to exercise my rights as a credit card user.

Aren't you jumping the gun a little here? You trusted him enough to purchase from a member with very low itrader without an escrow arrangement. Maybe the guy didn't know much about the cue....happens a lot. I would personally not play games like this and advertise it on here. You're coming off as quite shady with this suggestion. Doing a chargeback and putting the seller in a bad spot, trusting you to send the cue back. You should return it and when he gets it, if he doesn't refund your money, then do a chargeback. You are well within the timeframe and can even show your credit card company that you've returned the item.

What you're doing here in essence is putting it out on the street that you might be a difficult buyer. Some people on here will see this and may not want to sell to you.

Your $40 offer did sound fair, but who knows what's in the mind of other people. We're all humans and can make mistakes. Just not a good idea, your reply here.....imo.

Free advice...for what it's worth.

I would waste no time in exercizing your credit card rights, and after a 100% refund
I would ship the cue back COD

Honestly speaking, your post left a "bad taste in a mouth".
A charge back? Seriously? You just raising a red flag upon yourself here fellow.

I will go with return after I am fully refunded.
Ebony...did you know it was black??
I sold many items, never dumped on anyone.
40 freaking bucks is all I asked. Way more than reasonable.

By many you mean 8? Just to be clear.
Also, yes, it is easy for older folks to make a mistake. Are you perfect, never made a mistake?
If the cue is so bad and so not what you wanted, then how is $40 gonna help? Are you going to want it if it is $40 cheaper? Seriously?
I think seller is being reasonable here - he offered a full refund. That is how things are done - you do not like it, send it back. How can he refund without having his cue back?

Did you ask beforehand if this seller had a satisfaction guarantee or return policy?

You're inferring this seller "dumped on you". He could just be uninformed or not so competent with the measurements. East Indian rosewood or dark cocobolo can look like ebony under Bill's old lacquer finish. Yeah, 12.6 to 12.0 mm is quite a difference, not an acceptable error for sure.

Send the man his cue back and get your refund. Really no need to create this drama here. :frown:

Best of luck,

I tend to agree with the OP. There isn't an excuse for cocobolo verses ebony, and 12.0 verses 12.6 is a mile away. It isn't about being perfect, its about being honest.

I don't go for the rebate crap. If I was the seller, I would not take that either. It was an offer, and if either side decides not to go forward.

I offer a money back guarantee on everything I sell, but doesn't give me the right to misrepresent something on multiple issues.

Kot_Bigemot you seem like someone that shouldn't give advice, as you are so often so far off base. Maybe you should stay at the kids table.

HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!!
Ken is being himself. But let's just ignore him, not worth talking about.
As far as being honest. Seller offered a refund. Yes, on picture and description it says Ebony and indicates shaft being at 12.6. True, I would flip out if I bought it as well.
But, after a charge back comment, I would be very careful with that buyer.
What kind of a guy screams that shaft is 12 mm instead of 12.6, cocobolo instead of ebony and THEN, says that for $40 he would keep the cue. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MOMENT.
If I bought a cue and it was something that seller did not disclose, I would return the cue that same day.
By the way, can buyer post some pictures of the cue? Perhaps even a picture with caliper on shaft? Just so people can see.

Is the joint ivory? If the cue was misrepresented and the shaft is 12 and was advertised as 12.6 and and is not straight then a refund in full is due, no way around it. The ebony and cocobolo aspect is also something but it's possible to mistake one for the other depending on grain and color. If both parties agree you can send me the cue and the money and I'll send them back, no charge no questions asked. Hard to find an easier alternative and not to mention keeping the battle of the AZ he said she saids to a minimum and knocking everything on the first page.

Kot,
Would you trust this guy? BS you would.
You would lose your mind.
I have sold plenty of high end items to repeat buyers because of trust. One buyer in China paid up from for several cues in the 2-3k range by bank wire .
Kot, pm me a cell number or email and I can send photos of the measurement, roll and obvious brown coccobolo. Cant post pics from my phone. If you see them I bet you will understand then.

You trusted him just fine when you paid upfront for a cue, did not you? Did you receive a cue? Regardless of what condition was, did you or did you not receive a cue for your money? So, it should not be a trust issue here to answer your question.
Also, you can charge back within 30 days of transaction. Why jump a gun now? Give seller a chance to refund you the money. And if he does not, then you can do your chargeback on a credit card.
And again, you are driving away from my question - If the cue is so bad, so warped, so not what you wanted, HOW COME YOU ARE WILLING TO KEEP IT FOR JUST $40 REBATE?
As for selling "plenty of high end items" Many guys here sell/buy high end cues. All based on trust and backed up with reputation and credit card protection services. And you are not the only one who charges upfront people from overseas.Everybody do that. And NOT because of trust. But because nobody will send a cue overseas without payment upfront.
And even if everything you said is true, which very well may be. I do not doubt your word. I am just trying to tell you that if you trusted seller to enter this deal, you should trust him to refund you and send the cue back.
No need to send it to my phone, post them when you can.
By the way, does seller have anything to say here?
