Large favor I owe cuemaker Chuck Starkey

What I want to know is... is there a way to block specific users from bidding on your items? That might be a handy one. :)

Ah, yes... for anyone who wants to avoid being the next Mr. Starkey...

Once logged into eBay, you can block specific users from bidding on your items at this URL:

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BidderBlockLogin

EDIT: Hehe, my anticipation was killing me. Thanks for your reply, Jeff!

Yes, if you know their member IDs.

Do you know all of mine, Jeff?

What I know is you seem AWFULLY concerned about this Ebay stuff. Hitting a nerve are we. :D :D

I am vastly amused, not concerned. Share with us more of your eBay knowledge, Jeff. I still have a funny bone left unbroken.

Just saw this thread subject and I will confirm Mr. Starkey's incompetence as a cuemaker and unprofessionalism in his customer service rudeness. I was the purchaser of a cue from Mr. Starkey basically because I was curious and wanted to try his wood joint, not his old, petrified personal joint, but I should say that of one of his cues. In post #21 Mr. Hakala referenced the feedback I left on ebay. I withdrew the negative feedback rating after I received a refund, because he asked me to do so, and I did not wish to impact his possible future business. However, while the cue I purchased was attractive in the ebay photos and a fair value, the cue I received was an absolute POS. Among other deficiencies, there were lathe marks, the rings were raised, there was a crack in the maple handle and the rings and inlays had multiple gaps. Mr. Starkey subsequently admitted the cue should never have left his shop, yet in corresponding with him and his wife they seemed to think that I should be happy that they deigned to sell me this abomination of a cue. As to the varied side issues and personal attacks raised as a result of Mr. Hakala's post, I do not see the relevance re the initial post.

Well met, Alex! I wondered if you might chime in here. You never answered my eBay query about the reasons for your negative feedback. They sound very familiar.

As you may have read here, I do wish to impact Starkey's possible future business. His business is jewelry. I want him to stick to that and drop his haphazard hobby of cuebreaking.

I gotta tell you, I have found this quite amusing myself. I'm going to have to do some searching and find some more.

It's the internet age, ain't it amazing. :) :)

"Items by bidder." Now what, Jeff? You enter "davidhakala" and that shows you all the items upon which I am currently bidding. Or does it?

Does it show you all the items upon which I will place bids less than ten seconds before the auctions end?

Have you ever tried to send a link to anyone via eBay's messaging system?

No, Jeff, you don't know how eBay works.

Dismissed. Back to the gene pool with you.

Silence of the Lambs, comes to mind as I read this.

Re Post #85

Actually, I did attempt to respond to your inquiry via ebay message and couldn't do so. Every time I tried to post my reply I kept getting a request to type in the 4 digit code provided in a cryptically color coded message box. I don't know if one of my firewalls or other programs was blocking the reponse but after 4 or so attempts to placate the ebay solons I didn't feel up to the effort to try to resolve it. I have no personal animus toward Mr. Starkey, after all, this is America, and he is entitled to do business as he wishes. Just not with me again. Caveat Emptor.

Re Post #89

You, Sir, know not of what you speak. Your inane attempt at humour and unsubstantiated innuendo are mindless.

Whatever you say David, it's nice to see two of your personalities being so cordial towards one another.

Just know, when using multiple ID's, it's always a good idea to change the way you write so others can't detect your effort at sounding intelligent.

 I am outdone. I bow to the Master.

Have another go, Kloppi! At last, I get to sit back with a bowl of popcorn for a moment! :D

O, wait... Kloppi has me on his "ignore" list. Will someone quote this post so he can see it, please?

Usually, it's more fun getting in his face behind his back. :D

Klopek,

You made a very astute observation, from the language used and the type of sentence structure. Nice work.

Any post containing sufficiently advanced vocabulary is indistinguishable from any other of similiar erudition.

In Kloppi's case, 8th grade level is sufficient.

Jay's too, I see.

Sooo, AlexB bought a cue, didn't like, returned it for a refund, end of story. Common occurence.

The question remains: What kind of FRIGGIN IDIOT does the same thing outlined above, but then buys THE SAME CUE AGAIN, from the SAME PERSON??

It is my personal belief that you are so loaded up with rage (guilt/confusion/imbalance) that you don't realize Starkey has already made this right. He has brought peace to this by doing what was true and just.

"With our eyes on the horizon, we do not see what lies at our feet"

Other than your ability to type the letters, there is nothing zen about you....

(FYI, I am Buddhist, and a practitioner of Zen Buddhism. You throw words around like it's a fad and/or you think it's cool. Had you a deeper understanding of the zen philosophy, you could never even make the original post. Ch'an would essentially prohibit your mind from thinking in terms of revenge. Your eyes are obviously closed and, therefore, you can not be on the path to Enlightenment.)

David, something doesn't seem to add up. Enlighten us as to the following:

The auction ended 8-2-06 and you were the winner.

On 9-12-06 you left positive feed back, stating; Easily worth $700! Hits like a 1-piece, AAA materials. Won 19-0 1st session!

Then on 10-6-06 you followed-up on that feed back; Follow-up by davidhakala: No predator has 4 segments. Inlays protrude, jagged, broken. Says he did me a favor!

From the time you received the cue until over a month later, you seemed VERY pleased with the cue. What happened??

I don't know you or Mr. Hakala. Neither of you gentlemen know me nor probably wish to do so. However, Mr. Hakala sounds as though he may be more than reasonably intelligent and can provide legitimate discourse. On the otherhand this would appear to be a reasonable facsimile of you and your ability to do so.

The kind who can't stand to see a cue of great potential remain unhealed, as I have explained four times now.

It is my personal belief that you are so loaded up with rage (guilt/confusion/imbalance) that you don't realize Starkey has already made this right. He has brought peace to this by doing what was true and just.

He has paid for the healing of his cue, which is indeed just.

But he is still peddling crap and blaming it on his customers. He is still degrading Predator and Tiger cues, causing harm to those firms' reputations, players, and other sellers of such products.

Von, according to the prevailing "wisdom" around here, nothing short of a photograph of you shaking hands with the Buddha is acceptable proof of that claim. ;)

Thank-you Jay, just had to chime in since no one else seemed to notice. I hate giving schizo the satisfaction, but I know there's a hundred smiling faces reading it and I get a warm feeling in the cockles of my heart. :) ;)
