Pure amateur picks to help guide Mark Wilson (I’m sure he needs my input ) in his Mosconi Cup selections.

The team we will likely see:
Shane Van Boening
Justin Bergman
Justin Hall
Corey Duel
Oscar Dominguez

The team I would like to see:
Shane Van Boening
Mike Dechaine
Justin Bergman
Skyler Woodward
Justin Hall

Well there’re my picks and I hope it helps Mark out.
Let’s see what anyone else has in the way of team make up this year and next.

P,S.
I like Mark Wilson to head the team, both years.

Something tells me Sossei is going to find his way on the team. Hope he shows up to play if he makes it.

I don't think Sossei would be a wise choice. I also don't think Oscar Dominguez is a good choice either.

Justin Hall just had a great win over the very talented Wang Can. Well played.

I think Mark is a great coach and leader for these young players. I also think Mark is basing his Mosconi team decisions on level of play AND and how well he feels members of the team will gel and bond together.

While I agree I would probably put some players ahead of others, I can't honestly argue with him either. It's truly a wait and see scenario. There is no doubt all his chosen players are world class but I happen to believe it doesn't matter how well you play as an individual if you can't play well as a team.

As Jimmy Reid wrote, this is "No Time for Negative!"

If I were Mark after building all the teamwork, rapport etc amongst the Mosconi 8, just get them to play round robin league qualification - same rules as MC, all matches will be 9 ball races to 6 and same rack rules. If possible use same tables. Each session , 8 players play round robin will be 28 matches total and each player plays 7 matches. Have 1 session per month for 3 to 4 months leading up to MC. The top 5 players with most points at end of all the sessions automatically qualify for MC. Easiest and most objective way for Mark to choose his 5
If any one disputes and say someone else should be on the team, Mark just show them the results and points from the sessions :D

I also think they should get Mike D. on the team. It depends on how strict Mark Wilson wants to be with the 8 players being the only ones considered for the final team.

spartan...Nice idea, but the Mosconi Cup is in 8 weeks...not time for your plan. :D

BRussell...The 8 players have been picked. There will be NO changes, and the five that play will be determined by Mark, based on his personal evaluation. People need to stop trying to userp Mark's decision, and start getting behind the players that have been chosen for this year's Cup. Next year's Cup is another matter for consideration.

I know you've talked to him about it so you would know, but he did say in one of the interviews that if he wanted, he could change the roster. He made it sound like that would only happen if someone in the initial 8 screwed up. I remember he even said the only thing that would stop Shane from getting on was if he committed double murder. So I guess Shane's got one murder he's still allowed to commit.

I would think a coach would want the best talent at the table and on the team he can get. If he's any kind of coach he should be able to get them to mesh and put them in good bonding situations, and help put them under pressure situations to grow as a team. The goal is to win with the best team and talent, there is no prize for the team that bonds the best together. I play with people i dont like all the time, doesn't affect how I play. Once we get crushed this year maybe he'll do it next year....GO USA

a friend of mine who has played on 3 Ryder Cups and three Presidents' Cup's recently told me when ask . Yes a captain matters but the biggest issue is the chemistry because there are many good choices but some just don't mesh and that chemistry is most important. Some are DQued on that basis
t basis .

i like ur pick its what id go with

I like those picks also.... I think Sky needs to be on team usa for sure hands down

Skyler was very impressive on the TV table match against Alex. Since this is a building year he would be a great choice.

I think a lot of you will be surprised with the team.

I think it will be Shane, Corey John, Jeremy and either Oscar or Justin..
