I just read a lot about fullsspice cues here.....

I don't know for sure but, Jerry -R- is perhaps the best IMHO of making these cues.

Here is a pic of a short splice? which is very nice but, it's not a fullspliced cue? >>>

This is a fullsplice like a sneaky pete but, with the veneers >>>

It's a beauty of a cue.....thx, Jerry

The John Davis pictured is indeed a fullsplice blank. It is not a longsplice blank, however. The second splice is done to mainly to reduce weight and is intended for cues with a wrap. There are secondary reasons too but not as important. Ebony prong longsplice blanks are quite heavy without a lighter core. Jerry R has made some incredible looking blanks and is in a class by himself in that regard. Martin

The Davis blank is most definitely a full-splice. It's a short full-splice blank. Of course, it's a blank and not a cue.

I know terminology has got confused over the years, and many don't know the history of the short full-splice that Burton Spain and John Davis pioneered, but this is a full splice, not a short splice.

Yes it is a full splice with a extra splice for weight purposes. A short splice or half splice is inlayed from what I understand. Can anyone confirm this, so I can be sure. THx

Try Travis at blackcreek if you want a fullsplice, but he won't do cocobolo, I had jerry build me a cocobolo one, didn't turn out as nice as I would of hope, sold it.

Thanks for the reminder that Jerry also makes a full splice - he does a beautiful job of it too.

A short splice has a separate forearm from the handle using what is commonly referred to as an A-joint.

A full splice has a forearm joined to the points either with or without veneers as a single piece. It's more a matter of how the points are placed in the forearm than anything.

If they are placed as individual points into v grooves, it's a short splice, if a four pointed lower section is spliced into a forearm section, it is a full splice.

Probably a bit offtopic here, cuz it's not a pool cues, but check some of russian pyramid fullsplice custom sticks

Jerry Rauenzahn Is Great..........

I think Jerry R. is a great cue-maker........I wouldn't have ordered my custom Bushka if I didn't firmly believe that to be absolutely true.

Nonetheless, when it comes to full splice pool cues, in my opinion, every cue-maker takes a back seat position to Joel Hercek.......the best living cue-maker at producing full splice cues........and no disrespect to Jerry Rauenzahn is intended nor implied so please don't infer any.

I happen to like the hell out of every cuemaker mentioned in this thread......but, NOBODY makes a cleaner fullsplice blank than Jon Nemic when it comes to using traditional methods. I'm referring to his blanks from mid 2013 to present.

Does he do veneered blanks? Got any pictures?

Prathers full splice blanks take a back seat to no ones...

Andy
