2015 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

I uploaded that AMRO-match now. I say score a loud between the racks(and curse in Finnish sometimes :embarrassed2:)

I actually did count wrong when i said 60-60 and it is actually 61-59 for me. So match ended 100-74 for me.
little bit blurry vid because camera placement sucks that table and need to zoom little too much..

Real nice.
Exactly the reason I would like to see more players playing this game on a regular basis.
Hard work and gr8 focus. well done.

Thanks. Playing against AmRo-Ghost is really focus consuming game because Ghost get too much rolls from my break...
Great game to play with friendly small bet also... but players need to be near same level or it not be so fun..
Many times nowadays I "think" I am focused when I were shooting and after bad shot i noticed I was not. Even I did think I was.. hard to tell what I mean. My head get messed up when I try put that thinking to English language..

Some of my videos have been blocked due to copyright infringement so moving forward I will not have music playing in the background. Working to remove copyright songs so video will play for all. The video for the 6-Ball challenge is currently blocked.

I have been playing a youtube pool match in the background, or a TAR match on DVD. This way the youtube bots won't take down your video, but there is still some background noise.

I got youtube to mute the audio on the 6-Ball video and make it viewable for everyone. Moving forward I will play pool matches in the background.

7-6 win 10 ball ghost.

I haven't played the ghost in a while so I thought I'd give the 10 ball ghost a go. I didn't do as well as I hoped to. It's something to improve on though.

I started out breaking hard the first couple of sets but I wasn't making anything and the layouts were too tough for me to fade. It seemed like every rack I had 2 or 3 clusters. I started soft breaking and the layouts got better. It's not pretty but it's a W. Came back from 6-3 down to win.

Wow beating the 10 Ball ghost on a 9ft. Diamond, that's tough! Good shooting.

Edit: There's one rack where I wasn't paying attention and picked up the three after the break instead of the CB. I didn't know where it was so I just dropped it back in the general area. Oops!

Nice shooting. Keep challenging the ghost. It is a great way to practice with 100% focus when playing alone. I never break the rack hard, I try to break at a medium speed so the balls spread out with no clusters.

Thanks! I still have lots of room for improvement.

I got the idea from watching your 10-ball vid :)and watching Dennis O play the 10-ball ghost at Hardtimes. There's a few vids that TrumanHW (don't know if I got the screen name right) uploaded to YouTube of various pros taking on the 10-ball ghost on their ridiculously tough GC. They're worth watching if you haven't seen them yet.

Also, I asked about your cloth a while back...860HR is going on my home table in a few months when we move into our new place. From the looks of your table, it's gonna be FAST. The cushions on my GC have already been changed and are lively as it is. With 4 1/4" pockets, it's gonna be tough.

Tip when recovering your table.

I run an air-conditioner and a dehumidifier in my pool room. When I recover my table I do it on a warm humid day, turning off the AC and dehumidifier plus I open the window and doors. "My pool room has two doors to the outside" The humidity will allow the cloth to expand, once you have your table covered close all windows/doors, turn on the AC and dehumidifier and your cloth will shrink. My cloth is so tight you would think that it was glued onto the slate. Do not do this for the rails. Recover rails in a dry climate so there is no shrinking or the cloth may pull the bumpers down when it shrinks.

Thanks! The conditions may not be ideal for that in my case though since it's going to be cold out. We're shooting for October/November-ish to get the table in and set up.

You may be able to lay the cloth on your slate and using a spray bottle spray water onto the cloth dampening it. After spraying take a damp washcloth/towel and wipe the spray mist into the cloth, this should allow the cloth to expand. Depending on how fast you are with the recovering you may need to hit it again at the half way point.

Finally!

I was finally able to beat the 9-ball ghost in a race to 9 last night, on my new Centennial table.

9-foot table, 4.5" pockets, Simonis 860HR, regular racking with random ball positions, score 9-7.

I'll get my video camera set up soon.

Hoping I can maintain my edge over that damn ghost. :)

I'm having trouble finding the TrumanHW. Could you post a couple of the links for the YouTube videos? Thank you.

First time against the 9-ball ghost

I played the 9-ball ghost the first time two days ago. Lost 3-7 and 6-7. Today I lost 4-7 again, this time I decided to post the video anyway. It's clearly a lack of focus, the first three racks were perfect and from then on just stupid mistakes. See here:

Ghost, I'm gonna get you!
