Bandido's cues

Bandido, Sherm came to the Phils? He lives 20 minutes from me. I used to see Sherm all the time but he has been so busy making cues lately. He makes a nice cue. www.shermcue.com

The Philippines is Sherm's second home as his fiancee lives here. We spent a day together, watching a tournament and visiting my shop, the last time that he was here. Great to know that we share something in common.

I think i'm in love.

What's in ER's R&D?

Currently undergoing durability testing is joint pin that I machined out of carbon fiber. It's about 70-85% lighter than the pins that I've been using thus giving me greater latitude with the rest of the materials when designing with balance as a given specification.

That's a nifty looking pin Ed.
We're getting aluminum pins made too.
I'd like to tell you what the configurations are but your mailbox is full.
Must be a ton of orders. :D

Where could I find an ER240? I can't find one anywhere.

The only one who has them right now is www.alpha-billiard.com. But I don't know of how much they have in stock as I have a list of orders from them that I'm still filling. I had my uncle custom make me a cutter to speed up the strips cutting process for as it is right now, hand cutting, I just can't get the waiting time down from 6 months. I hope this new pneumatic cutter will somewhat help trim down production time.

Is it as tough as a Black G10 pin? Hows the durability testing going?

Er's first cue from scratch. Made in Yucca Valley, back in 1988, out of Macassar ebony, mahogany handle, micarta and ebony C,D & E rings, abalone shell ring for the joint, balck linen joint and butt material, black with white speck linen wrap, 5/16" x 14tpi joint pin and polyurethane clear coat. Still staraight after 16 years of hard use (lending to friends and leaning against walls while not in use.

Bandido,

I really admire your work, first of all. And second of all, i see you have "revisited" V-groove points. I am doing the same, except i'm visiting them for the first time. Do you have any suggestions as to how to make sure the points don't split or have gaps, and i want to maintain the integrity of the entire structure. Our A-Joint's are similar, not the same, but similar, different threads/thread patterns :D . If you perfer to decline this information i will understand.

Thanks,

Jon

I don't think Bandido uses a dull tap and a 3/8 16 stud bolt. :p
None of that horse glue either. :D
J/k.
Me likes to know that too Ed. I saw some blanks at Z's shop.
Some with veneers oozed out glue between the veneers. YIKES!
Also, Z has repaired a few cues with v-points that have split at the bottom of the forearm b/c the v-points separated from the main forearm.

I wanna know who did the case! That is way cool!!!

Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Jack Justis made that case. If you think that's way cool, wait 'til I post the pic of the other side. It has panels the same as the lizard skin used for the cue handle's wrap and a laser engraved artwork that's shown on the cue's butt skull inlay (back side of the skull). I'll look for the picture.

Everytime I see that cue, I say to myself, those are damn col stickers, but then I KNOW those are not stickers. It is just phenomenal.

Thank you Jon. Try not to fall asleep while reading the PMs, you too Joseph! I started out with how to make perfect 90 deg v-grooves with equal depth and length then veneer glueing which includes clamping pressure control with veneer/glue pressure ratio. Didn't include the computation as you'll need specialized testing equipment for crush strength of the veneers and hydraulic pressure of different viscousity of adhesives. Edwin

Thank you again Buddha Jones.

Thank you Ed.
You got mail too btw. Some pics.
Pls don't show them to Jon. He's trying to steal my A-Joint configuration. :D :D

Actually, it's not my design. It's Z's. Jon gets the idea though of having a unique A-joint that will stand out to years of use. He has designed one without metal too and he is a thread-grinding maniac.

Roger, I'm sorry you did not make it to the Marina del Rey cue show.
The Torture Cue stole the show. I told Ed the finish looked fuzzy when I saw it.
It never occured to me that that was due to people grabbing it and examining the cue.

Nah, i've got my own A-Joint lol. Yeah, so you stole it from Z lol... I've seen Ed's a joint, i've got a pic :D . I could have sworn i have seen Z's somewhere though, but i can't be certain...
Oh yeah, and Edwin, i agree with what you said (not about the V-points, the other thing, and yes i agree with the v-points too :D ) in the pm. It's funny, they go on and on and on like the little pink bunny. It's silly.

Thanks,

Jon
