If you check on line you can probably find a list of factory authorized repair centers. Hopefully one is near you. I would think that they can answer your questions and possible warrantee claim.

Dick you sound like my GM teacher

I would say it is something simple like brushes, switch or wires. The major, costly items such as armature or fields usually don't give up sparks, just magic smoke.

Dick

The head instructor for General Motors techs in the south told the class I was in that it cost a lot of money to put the smoke in Cadillacs new body function computers but only a dummy with a testlight to let it out.--Leonard

The biggest question, IMO, is it still under warrentee???? IF so, just produce your receipt and let them fix it. If it's not, then get a set of brushes as that sounds like the likely culprit.

Sounds like the brushes have worn down.
If you use a router much brushes are a consumable item and I keep several replacement sets on hand for my Ryobi router.
Easy to replace on the Ryobi as there are two plastic caps holding them in.

The Kress routers don't appear to have easy access to replace them.
You might need to disassemble it to replace them.
Haven't needed to do that yet to the one I have, so I cant really say.
If the brushes have worn down it needs a good internal cleaning anyway.

Perhaps in Germany Kress routers are considered disposable and when the brushes wear down they just throw them away.
