Villards Cup is a tour in the Philippines organized by the BMPAP, with top players such as Fransisco Bustamante, Dennis Orcullo, Alex Pagulayan, Roberto Gomez, Lee Van Corteza, Ronato Alcano and of course Efren Reyes. 64 player field in each tournament, with 32 spots open for local qualifiers.

About 3000 spectators for this match. Here's a picture showing parts of the audience.

JoeyA, the payout is OK, 6000 USD for first place, 2.500 for 2nd. I dont know the rest, but its 32 players in the main tournament, and everybody gets paid.. Nr 17 gets 300 USD.

Players do not pay any entry fee, everything is sponsored by Senator Manny Villar, who is running for president in the Philippines next year. He has told the players he will have a billiard room in the presidential palace if he gets elected

This tournament is very popular, and the organisers together with Senator Villar are making a point out of producing this as a nationwide tour, travelling all over the Philippines. On each stop there are qualifiers for 8 of of the 32 spots in the main tournament - all the local talent come out to have a shot of meeting the legend himself or other top filipino players. The eventual field of 32 players is probably the toughest 32 man tournament you have ever seen.

GO MANNY! :D

That's got to be great for pool, not just in the Philippines.
