I have some sanding sealer that seams thick in a can , can I thin it out with something? I have shaken the can, still seams sticky and thick....

NOTE: THIS IS OVER THE COUNTER SANDING SEALER NOT FROM A BILLIARD SUPPLY STORE...

Sealer needs to be thin to work properly. Most if not all sealers sold for pre-finishing wood can, and if thick, needs to be thinned. The type of sealer that it is (lacquer, shellac or other) determines the thinner. It should be stated on the can. Shellac is thinned with alcohol, lacquer uses lacquer thinner and so on.

Deft smells funny to me.

Read the can, it will tell you what kind of thinner they recommend.
