Jay Helfert refs Jim Rempe and Mike Lebron plus David Howard and Nick Varner

This was the first Challenge of Champions, in 1991 I think. This is the controversial one that Lebron won when he was a 20-1 underdog at the sports book of the Mirage. I'd like to see the replay of his final match with Buddy Hall. There were some "funny" shots in that match. I had a ringside seat!

I've got this match on DVD and it's chock full of 'funny' shots.

One in particular that sticks out in my mind was a combination on the nine ball (I think it was the 6-9) that Buddy shot near the end of the match. It wasn't that hard, and he hit the wrong side of the nine ball. I was looking right at it, and it had to be the worst attempt I ever saw Buddy make at a combo.

I've asked Buddy about that specific shot and he claims to have just hit it bad???
 
I remember this match well, nothing against Mike but there were definitely a lot of "funny" moments in the match...

I have the entire thing on DVD............and you don't have to be blind to see what is going on.

This finals match really gave pool a black eye. Has any casino given odds on a pool match since this one?

Wasn't Buddy and Mike in the finals in 1991 at St. Charles, Illinois with a similar result?

I have this same match. Buddy missed the easiest combo that was lined up STRAIGHT! I can understand there was some pressure involved but you gotta remember Buddy had just won the US Open. So, it's not like he was dogging much at the time. That event did not come off looking very well for anyone.
 
Anyone cares to provide me with a copy of that match? (Challenge of Champions 1991).

I have been trying to gather additional information about Mike's accomplishments but info is scarce. This is what I have so far about Mike Lebron:
