It's monday, so here we go.

I spotted this in the May edition of Billiards Digest, and I haven't seen much talk about it on here so I'm not sure how many people saw it. Does anyone know when this chalk's going to be released? There's no mention of it on their website. I remember a while back people talking about a chalk formulation that was made in collaboration between Tweeten and the Cuemakers Association. Is this it?

Looks like just another name for blue Master chalk.

Another gimmick to suck people in....

This is the only chalk I use...sky blue.

More than likely. I'm just curious to see if this color has the problem of the clumping and hanging off the edges of the tip .

" Sky Blue is out [on the market] and doing quite well...
...and yes it is the same as what [we] did for the Cue manufacturers... "

sky blue master chalk

sadly it is still not yet available here in the philippines.. if the quality can be compared w/ the blue... then it can be a hit (but more on the younger players)

I am under the impression that Sky Blue Master chalk is the same as Master Blue but the color has been tweaked a bit to be closer to the new Simonis Tournament Blue so that it does not dirty the cloth badly.

If I am wrong on this I hope someone will correct me. I can call Skip on Monday to confirm.

And, by the way, for the record, Skip once again confirmed:

1) There is ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE between pre-flag and post-flag Master chalk. Except for the label that was changed after 911. If you want to think there is a difference then go right ahead, but you are dead wrong.

2) Neither OSHA nor any other government body has ever told them to change their formula. It has NEVER HAD LEAD or any other skin toxin in it.

In sum, the Master chalk that is sold today is the same Master chalk that has been sold forever. EXACTLY THE SAME. NO CHANGES. NEVER WILL BE. If your old Master chalk seems different to you it is because it has dried out more or the ingredients in the chalk are aging and breaking down.

And, as so many pros have told me, if you are miscueing you do not have a chalk problem, you have a stroke problem. And if you want to hit more than a cuetip off center to get the english you need, then you need an instructor. Go to the OB cue booth some day and watch Don Owen apply english. He does not hit way out on the edge of the ball but his stroke allows the cue ball to sit there and spin forever like some mad top. Buddy Hall and Ralf Souquet and Johnny Archer can make a cueball dance with half a tip of english. Sorry guys, it aint the chalk, its the stroke.

but...but Jerry....Skip is a big evil corporate devil who tricks people into buying his tainted lead filled blocks of death. dont drink the sky-blue koolaid Jerry !

holy crap its amazing some of the things that people dream up. about a block of chalk no less.

rumor mill rule #1: once the truth has been explained to you nice and clearly, dont believe a word of it and create your own version.

Is the stroke the MOST important thing? Yes. But people are always comparing the wrong things - apples to oranges.

Can Buddy Hall and Ralf Souquet and Johnny Archer make the ball dance better than I can because they have a better stroke? Of course.

But can Buddy Hall and Ralf Souquet and Johnny Archer make the ball dance better with Sportscraft chalk or a good chalk? Will Buddy Hall and Ralf Souquet and Johnny Archer have less miscues with a good chalk or crap chalk?

Everybody always says something like "Willie Mosconi could run 200 with a mop handle." My reply to that is "... and Willie Mosconi could run 400 with a house cue". I could run 20 with a mop handle and I could run 40 with a house cue. Let's compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

Johnny Archer has said it himself, he likes OLD Master chalk. Their game is better with good chalk. My game is better with good chalk. Your game is better with good chalk.

As to whether the Master chalk ever had a formula change, the possibility you suggest that the age is causing a change seems plausible. But then again, there are people who say they noticed a definitive change in the mid 90's. I don't know why or when it changed, but I know it's different. I'm not going any farther than that about the alleged formula change topic itself.

But I will say this about the "controversy". This thread was about the new sky blue chalk, whatever that is. And now you guys have made it about the pre-flag thing again. I am suggesting that if you guys want this topic to go away, then stop bringing it up. If you want the topic to not go away then keep bringing it up.

Jerry, I hope your right because the first thing I thought was, Will it match my new Simonis 860 tournament blue? I'm using and like Blue Diamond but it tends to leave a off color blue/tan streak.

I actually googled Masters Sky Blue Chalk and this thread came up. I have been getting big splotches of what appeared to be dirt or even grease colored stains on my Tournament Blue Cloth. When I contacted Diamond Billiards they claim that the Regular Masters Blue causes this. Apparently its the way the chalk looks on the cloth. They instructed me to buy Masters Sky Blue. I have to imagine the Sky Blue Chalk was made specifically for Tournament Blue cloth. Since I hadn't seen anything on the forums about this I reposted this thread. Anyone have this experience with their Tournament Blue Simonis and regular blue Masters chalk?

I've been using blue diamond on my tournament blue without any
noticeable effect. I do clean the table with an X-1 quite frequently.

I will also say that I have been using Kamui on my jump stick and there
is no comparison to anything else, it's great.
