Just curious if anyone has any information on youth billiard programs in other countries? Very interested in hearing about youth programs in Europe and Asia.

Thanks

In Netherlands there's at least some...and proving to be quite succesfull as well with a few juniors placing well in the Dutch Championships....
I don't know the level of detail they have with the youth-program but the national-team at least has some training-camps together with coaching.
You might want to ask Berry (the coach)....I am not sure if he's here as well with that name...at least in the Matchroom chatrooms...if you can't find him...let me know I can put you in contact.

cheers,
Kimmo

Thanks for reply

Kimmo thank you for the reply back. I am particularly interested in any billiard programs in the schools that the Dutch may have or any other country in Europe for that matter as well as countries in Asia.

thank you.

Hsbilliard, checkout Federation Francaise De Billard [FFB] website there a complete course for youth for Billiard and Pocket Billiard. But in France. Also check with UMB at their website. Maybe they can answer your question. Have you checkout Billy Aardd's Club website?

There are youth programs in most European countries Earl, it a condition of National organisation membership into the EPBF.

Which countries are you particularly interested in or which aspect of the structures are you most interested in ?

Appreciate the help

Thanks for the responses back!

The reason why I am asking is I have been the high school program director for the last 7 years in Dallas (check www.betterplaybilliards.org), and the newly appointed Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) Chairman for the Billiards in School Committee and I am researching how other countries have organized and operate their school billiard programs.

Europe and Asia seem to be well developed in their training and promoting of billiards/pool to their youth. It would be nice to establish contacts with other countries on how they do things in their respective countries.

Also would be interested in any other U.S. school programs. I have helped several people start school programs in Harvard,Mass., Alberqueque, New Mexico, and Chicago, Il.

Dawn Hopkins and I are working on a program directors guide to help others start school programs in their area.

Again I appreciate any and all help in this matter and will definitely research the mentioned resources you have provided. Thanks.

Ahh - ok.

Udo Weyland is the Youth Director for the EPBF and so will have a feed into all of the member states' youth programs. - I will DM you with his details.

There is a full program of Youth events here in Europe, including a European Championship and they recently held the WPA Youth World championships in Willinghem, Germany a few months ago now. As you may know USA took the Girls title.

If you need any more info - just let me know, I'll add my details to that DM also.

Received the message and checked out this topic.

Yes I am the Dutch youth Pocket billiard trainer / coach. But I only train the selected youth players from our country.

Age: between 10 and 18 year.
total in Dutch youth squat: between 8 and 12 boys.

We now work with a Personal Development Plan for all players. I don't have the feeling you are looking for such a trainings program. If you do please let me know and I might be able to help you.

As a youth coach I admire all people that help the youth become better players. So GOOD LUCK!

, and YMCA's had a couple of pool tables to play on.

Pool was very popular back than, and most of us could no wait to be old enough to venture in to real Pool Rooms.

Can not say we had any formal Pool training, but we sure had fun.

I would be very interested in how the Germans are doing things with their youth. Any contacts there?

I love their mechanical thinking and precision.
