Silly Question 5 And 6th Are Equal Losing Places As Well As 7 And 8th. Why Is The Prize Money Different ?

Not certain, but I believe the tournament director may count games won against the 5th/6th and 7th/8th place players. The player with the least games scored against them would come out ahead to break the two ties.

I spoke with the tournament director this past Saturday (11/08/2008) and he said there were still openings (didn't say how many). You may want to call the room to be certain:

For a MD State 8Ball Championship, I think the races should be longer than 4/3. The tables there play pretty easy and if my grandmom got some good roles on me, I'm pretty sure she could beat me on the loser's side. Limiting the field to 32 should give them plenty of time to do races to 7/5 at least. Just my opinion.

Agreed. A number of people have asked the TD for longer races. His concern is finishing in one day for this year's event and maybe going to a large two day event next year with long races. Perhaps a suggestion for longer races this year can be brought up at the player's meeting on Saturday.

Good stuff, I will suggest it. I mean, I'm sure I'm not the best 8 ball player in the area but I want a fair trial. A race to 7 is more of a fair trial. Perhaps we could get him to compromise and make it race to 5 on both sides. That shouldn't make too much of a difference, especially with all the tables in that place.

Is there a dress code for this tournament?

The last time I was there, my opponent broke the 8 ball in the side pocket twice in a row (race to 3!). That rattled me pretty good. So, yes, a longer race would be preferable.

No dress code was announced. I imagine everyone wants to see some great matches no matter what the players look like.

For everyone that wants to play im pretty sure that they are opening the field to more players. If not yet signed up just show up at the tournament and you will most likely get in. I was there today and thats what alot of people that go there and work there said. So dont be scared of all the good players that will be there so come on down and shoot everyones nuts in and dont worry there will be TONS of ACTION to! See u there people!
