This has got to be the worst game for high-level players. It's absoloute torture. When strong players go at it on a 6x12 with pockets that barely fit a snooker ball, the games last 3-5 hours apiece. We took our horse down to another poolhall to look for action and he got in a golf game. After the first hour I wanted to set the damn snooker table on fire. I sat for 9 hours and watched two whole games get played. They play so careful, they give up absoloutely nothing. The only time someone makes a ball in the hole they are on is when it's checkmate, i.e. the ball is in the jaws and the defending player is hooked or can't knock it away. And for those of you who don't know, the type of snooker table I'm talking about is the ones most commonly used in America, with the super tight pockets that barely fit a snooker ball, not those buckets (in comparison) in England. Don't get me wrong, this is probably one of the toughest games in cuesports and requires incredible skill. But there is just no climax in the game. No risk, no great shots made. Just a bunch of two way shots combined with some excellent speed control, and bam you have a 5 hour stalemate. A friend of mine who is an old timer told me that the old players tried to kill the game of golf, as in wipe it off the face of the planet. I can understand why. What a bore.
