Golf game

I started playing golf about 1 year ago, learned the game from other players and always love the game and enjoyed to play with many different style players at same time

the way we play, $3 per man plue $.50 per foul, and the man who sold out need to pay the table time as well

as I said, i love this game, but after several times fXXked by some very experienced players (hook me dead when my man is going out hole), i'm really wondering if there is a better rule for this game

wat i meant is that when your man is going out hole and the player before you donesn't seem likely to win the game, who just hook you to the hell to make sure "your man" win the game "instead" you, so that he will not need to pay for the time(usually $8-$15). (especially when my ball is way off shape, like tie on the rail)

everytime when this happens, they would tell you that he didn't "mean it", but for "some reason" he just lost the cue ball, over stroke, bad roll..bala bala bala.... i do understand people make mistakes, but most of time, you would know if they are "accidents" or not!!!

i know probably there is just no way to avoid this, but just wondering if there are different rules for this game and at least can prevent some obvious "accident" :(

any better rules, suggestion?? thx:o

The only "golf" pool game I've ever played is 18 holes of between 2 and 4 balls racked in 18 different ways, cue ball hit from head spot... nobody but yourself can hook you, you needn't shoot the balls in any order, etc.

So I'm not sure what "golf" game you're talking about. I'm talking about this one: http://www.palason.ca/a_billiard_golf_game.htm .

Why is it that 99% of the guys playing golf are really old, is this the game you start playing when you lose your stroke, and just want to lag balls around a table?

There not but I know what you mean. I started playing golf as a teenager, great game.

To answer the posters question, we played if you can't see the whole ball you don't have to shoot at it. Take an intentional scratch and play safe. New/some players are a pain, their so worried about selling out they'll leave you in real tough spots. They let you see the ball but playing a safe from where your at can be extremely difficult. Thats why your better off being hooked so you can pass.

We play sell out pays double and table time.

He is talking

about 'Golf' played on a Snooker table. Each player has a numbered ball, and starts with a spot shot to bank to uptable right hand corner. Successive pockets are numbered going counter clockwise. If you make your ball in 'your' hole you are in, the ball spots and you shoot for the next hole. When you miss, the next player shoots. The game is over when a player makes his ball in the final 6 hole (right side hole). A red ball is placed on chalk and spotted on the 5 spot (for Snooker). Each time you fail to hit your ball, scratch, or knock the red ball off the chalk, it is what is called a hickey, and it cost you money. The red ball is respotted on the chalk on the 5 spot after being knocked off. The winner of the game pays nobody nothing, and losers have to pay the amount for each player, in this case $3, plus .50 times the number of hickeys each person has, so 20 hickeys would be $10 + $3 = $13 for one player alone. Usually 4-7 players play in a Golf game.

So, you can see from my example with like 6 players, and just use the example as an average, the winner would make about $65 for 1 game.

I used to play it all the time, usually for $5 a man, and $1 a hickey, sometimes double that, and a real tough game for $20 a man and $2 a hickey. That is the main thing at Club Billiards here in Wichita. An old time billiard place right out of the 40's.

It is real good for banking, kicking, and various safety play. Many a pool player has learned a lesson or two from some old guy that plays 'Golf' real well. They play whoever sells out pays double, but usually the winner pays table time. Never heard of the 'whole' ball rule, but it sounds like a sissy rule.

We play it $5.00 a man, 50 cent hickey, $1.00 foul and $5.00 sell out.

1 of the more fun games you can play with a bunch of buddies and a 12' snooker table.....

ya, I play the same "golf" as Snapeshot mentioned..

the game is "usually" for older guys, but really not necessary
i'm 30 y/o and like this game a lot
I've heared so many people talking how this game can hurt your stroke, hurt your game since you need to duck most of time. but I found the game dose help my multiple rail banks, kicks, and safety play a LOT!!

ALSO, to win the game, not only you need to shoot good but also you need to analyze the whole game, knowing what to do at each different situation, help other players to keep the game alive is a big part of it, which also makes very difficult to play

but people are selfish, sometimes the way they avoid sold out by "hook you and make you to sold out".. i like the whole game but hate to see people doing something such ugly for just save few bucks..

I GUESS there is no rules to prevent those sucker to hook their man and forced them to sell out... maybe I'D JUST play more 1 hole instead this fun game:cool:
