Help identifying Ralph Greenleaf (Brunswick?)

I just bought a Titlist looking 4 veneer cue with "Ralph Greenleaf" stamped in the forearm. This is only the second one of these that I have ever seen. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me about this cue. Was it even made/marketed by Brunswick?
Thanks.

My recommendation would be to PM either of the following AZB members who are very up to date on cues from this era:

Tate or Runscott

While I am sure there are many others who have extensive knowledge about Titlists/Greenleaf/Brunswick, I have gotten help from each of these gentlemen, and they were extremely helpful and willing to share their knowledge.

Hi,

I saw one in a collection that described the cue as follows:

* Manufactured by Brunswick
* Pre-dates the Titlist blank
* Likely built during the Great Depression (when Greenleaf traveled)
* Similar to later Rambow cues
* All seem to have rosewood into maple forearm, 4 veneers. leather wrap, brass joint.

This may not entirely scratch your itch for additional information, but it at least gets you started.

Nice cue,

Will :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :confused: :o :cool: :p :p

Thanks

Thanks for the input. Whatever they are, they are definitely rare. Wish I knew more... :(

The Titilist blank used for this cue resembles an old Balabushka, owned by a player I know that went to George Balbushka's house in 1972 and ordered it.

You would be interested in an old Brunswick made in their plant in Mexico in the 40's that I saw tonight. The markings are similar to some Willie Hoppe cues, the signature was Joe (I cant remember the last name) Chamaceo or something like that. The cue was made out of a very nice piece of rosewood, with a large silver ring above the bumper. It was definitely a billiard cue, with a large steel pin in the shaft. The Brunswick sticker was similar to the Hoppe professional model, but from Brunswick Mexico. A very interesting cue, still straight

Nice old stuff

Yup looks like a Greenleaf cue. The cues were and are less desireable than the titlist cues and the 26 1/2 cues. They lacked the quality the of other cues. I always liked them. Valued 40%-80% of the Hoppe cues.
Nick :)
