I had a buddy snap a pic of me last night at league...I dunno if it was just to show all his friends that a guy on his team has a PINK jump cue or what?! :p But, I thought, hey, let's see some other folks' league nights. Not pics from big national tourneys, but normal stuff....like this dive I play at in East Peoria IL. 5 old crappy Valleys (though the cloth and rails ARE kept up), and an atmosphere that is, well, typical central IL tavern.

Special thanks to Craig for not snapping a good pic, in a better local joint, on a Diamond, and using my normal (not PINK) cue! lol

You apparently need to work on your position play Rusty.

;)

Good pic, this could turn out to be a great thread.

hey now KK - my opponent put me there after I dogged the 8 on my break and run attempt. :sorry: lol

This is my league, out of Ayer, MA.

On the front page is the picture of the Jr League, the picture was taken during the Jr. Nationals in WI last year. My son is the one on the far right.

This is me watching him play cribbage with me sitting behind him on the couch

One of our top shooters, note the proper chalking after each shot.

As you can see, the room has a large assortment of people who play, lots of women play, kids, fat guys with beards  Snooker table in the background. Dead things on wall were hunted by the owner.

thanks hang-the-9.....cool pics

It's a great room, very kid friendly, different leagues almost every night, and filled all the time during those. Those pics were during the regular 9 ball and Women's 8 ball league playoffs. There is a combo 10ball/8ball, 8-ball Women's, Invite only Master's 10 ball, one-pocket, straight pool leagues and an 9-ball league.

If you click though the facebook page you'll find lots more pictures of the room, along with some other rooms the league is in.

I'm pretty proud of the place we play in, Billiards Cafe, clean tables, great owner and league setup.

lol rusty I hope they cave you a deal on that jump cue. Your place reminds me of an elk's lodge. Nothing fancy but you can't beat 50 cent tables.

Love your place hang-the-9. For some reason it looks more Montana than CT, maybe it's the dead kitty over the door. Grew up playing in a place with high ceilings, you took your life into your hands to change a light fixture or fix a wire. Those look cool, like antique brass.

Here's our local place. Smoky, pretty crowded, lots of people crowded near the bar (out of view to the right). Not the worst place I've shot now that they started taking care of the tables a little.

My place is in MA, The Billiards Cafe in Ayer. You should see some of the other animals around the room, there is a monkey by the bar and a giant moosehead by where I was sitting, don't even remember what else is around. Think if it's not endangered and not swimming, it's on the wall LOL. There are a few members from here who play there also, it's the first room I have seen that mixes the older crowd with teens with college kids with hardcore players with kids with women and so on. There is even a Porsche racing club that meets there during the warmer months after their races, the street outside gets filled with a few million dollars worth of Porsches, trailers and motorcycles.

Some more pics, you can see quite a few of the permanent animal guests in this one. There are lots of antique signs all over the place also, most dealing with Ayer history, and pictures.

Here is a nice group picture, my son and me again, he's the one with the black and red glove. Everyone you see there is probably in one of the leagues or is a regular.
This was a holiday party for the league. My son and I finished 3rd out of 22 teams in the doubles tournament, we were the only pair with a kid in it that made it that far, he's getting good! We almost made it to the finals but lost 3-2 to a team with two good B players.

This kid comes from New Jersey to play in the Jr League in our room in Mass on Sundays.

With phones nowadays it'll be easy to snap a pic of each of my league stops. The variety of places are quite WIDE. From a dinky corner tap that barely has enough room for it's 1 Valley. To a couple of bars that are really pretty much pool oriented only (one with the best kept Valleys ever, and one that replaced it's GREAT Diamonds with kinda quirky Brunswick barboxes), to a seedy poolhall (lol, kiding Dave). Central IL, and the midwest in general is just different when it comes to pool, I think....

you'll see  :D thanks for contributing your pics

Oh and when I got the jump cue, Dave (Jacoby) just laughed, shook his head, and said, "figures" when I picked PINK! I LOVE pink!!!!

I'm actually wondering why I have not seen a league picture thread before, don't remember one being started, at least not recently.

Here is another pic of ultimate cuteness. This girl was 8 when she started the league and got an invitation to play in the Jr Nationals. While there, she placed higher than almost ANY of the other kids from New England. She even called a girl she was playing that was at least 3-4 years older for not having two feet on the table while she was shooting at a 9 ball, she beat her hill hill with that call.

Rusty the central Il dump in your pic is none other than the old Bill and Mary's... A central Il billiard stable....the home of 10 cent pool on mon and tues back in the day.... and the place I cut my billiard teeth.... and the former home of one the best undercover bar box players in all of central Il, till they sold it that is. Is that Donny Jr your playin there. If I had the money I spent on beer and pool in that place I would be semi-retired now.

haha, yep, Meadow's Ave. Tap, although most still call it the old Bill and Mary's. No, it wasn't Durant, but I did see him afterwards at Dave's (he was winning the weekly tourney - shocker there ;) ). All my teammates live on the wrong side of the river, so I don't mind the drive to play at home :o

Couldn't talk my guys into going to state this year, so I joined Ernie Hendricks (TJ's) team, with Jay Schmidt, Matt Rush, Rob Auer, and Nick McGuire. Had a good time, but only 1 win for the Peoria area this year - Dee and Bobby won the Masters Scotch doubles. A good number of new Masters for next year with high places in both Open events though.

Good to hear from someone who shared the same ole stomping grounds

Oh ya I know all those guys, or the usual suspects as I like to refer to most of them. Havent been hearing anything about Bobby Jr. He been playin anybody? Did here he won doubles, who won the singles

Hey Rob! Kate and I been going to Meadows every now and again recently. Free pool Fri~ Sat and any other day you can rent table by hour for $2.00 no matter how many shooting just $2.00. We play in house at T.J's Tuesdays. Maybe run into ya to hit some soon...been a while~ Be Kool Man!

s'up buddy....I thought someone may have snuffed ya and hid the body. I'll try to get over to Meadows on a Friday or TJs on a Tuesday. You're worth the drive. :p Don't be such a stranger.

Here's a pic of thus odd-ball shooting on the opposite team last week.

Note the pilot's headphones and portable CD player in a belt above his rear-end. Of course he also wore a purple glove…

That is just too funny. They ran out of large headphones, you had to settle with size small!?
