Phillippi Dice Cue w/ 5v points

Can anyone help me value this cue? Picked it up here a couple of years back. The cue is not perfect, but pretty damn nice. There is one lacquer flaw on one of the points (you can see it in first pic, about the size of a matchhead), and 2 of the 6 dice have thin spots where the black underneath shows through. Would be willing to let it go if the price is right since I am not playing much.

Leather wrap, 2 shafts, Ivory all over the place (dice and all of the dots - the stitch rings are maple), and incredible point work.

Lowering the Price to 1000$ Shipped.

By the way - I purchased this cue on here from Kbooks3, probably 2 years back. He may or may not have info on the cue that I am unaware of.

Perhaps he meant 5 veneers?? Looks like a 4-pointer to me...but with 5 red and black veneers.

Funky looking cue. I dig it.
 
Thanks, that makes sense....it looks like it might be four point....maybe even three.

With the three sets of dice in the butt, I would think three or six would make sense and it doesn't look like six.

No matter what it is though, that's a great looking cue!!
 
It is a 4 point cue with 5 red/black veneers on each point, then plus the inlay pattern in each point.

Kbook3 refreshed my memory on some stuff that I didn't get around to measuring myself yet (I will confirm):

58 inches long, 19.25 oz, Boar Hide wrap, agesis ferules. Says he talked to Richard about the cue a couple years back, and the cost to build would be ~2k at that time. One shaft may have a slight wobble to it. 1 shaft has been played a bit, the other looks pretty virgin.

Ok guys - I have been away from the market for a while now, so help me understand here.

Speculation is this cue went somewhere in the 9s:

Pretty cue, but no where near the point work that is in mine, and about the same amount of ivory.

This one went at 1300:

More ivory, but again, not even close on the point work.

What is it exactly that puts my cue at a 15-40% discount to these? Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to put a fair price on this thing.

It's the market, and finding that right person who falls for it.

The market sucks right now. The second cue, has more than just ivory in it. It has a lot of silver too. Even still though, your cue is a specific theme and that is sometimes hard to sell. It's a great looking cue and Philippi cues haven't retained value as well as they should have on the secondary market. It's got great features, especially when you look at the sectioned points....and I especially love the Red/White/Black colors going on, but everything seems dead right now. You aren't the first one to experience it....
 
Well after reading the thread a lot of things really stick out...

The original poster doesn't realize how soft the market is, especially with Phillippe's. I would like to think that I could get 1200 for that Phillippe. But if I am buying I need to take into consideration the "wobbly" shaft. To be honest as a dealer I probably wouldn't offer because I can see he is looking for maximum value. Sometimes as a dealer you need to know when to walk away.

Which leads to number two.. Tank might have made a below market offer, but Tank knows the market. The offer might be humorous to the person with the cue, but as a dealer it might be right in the ball park.

I did not think a offer of 300.00 for a Scruggs sneaky that needs a refinish was out of line seeing a refinish goes for between 100.00-150.00 to get one resprayed .Then you might break even on it.JMO
