Another Suspect Auction on Ebay (Balabushka)

suspect

that looks like a cue from about ten tears ago,it is a piece of bushka and piece of szamboti..mark at pooltable magic was warning everybody about it
if its the same cue

My money is one the auction being legitimmate

I can't speak to the authenticity of the cue itself, but when the person has a telphone number listed in the auction along with a verifiable address like this, it is probably a real auction. They put way to much identifiable and verifiable information in the auction to pull a fast one. Regardless, use of an escrow agent for this level of transaction is warranted. Just my two cents after bustng out over 30 fraud auctions.

I am going to be in Miami this week and I emailed the seller asking if I may inspect the cue in person. I will post his reply when (if) I get one.

It is missing one thing that blows the sale for me.

It doesn't include a Predator shaft! How the heck is someone supposed to play bar league without a Predator shaft ???!!!!! What a loser of a cue.

Looking more closely at the cue I have a few questions. The notched MOP Diamonds do not look as though they are aligned from the points to the butt. I may be seeing this wrong, but it looks that way. The seller provided an excellent pic of the joint pin,the glare skews the pic somewhat, but it seems not to have certian things you look for in a Balabushka. The AZ'ers in the Miami area are on the case,so we will soon know.

I bet its legit

If it is a fake, it has me. Letter from Taz, letter head correct.

Obviously, I would pick and pay for in person, or use escrow but what else can you ask for?

The only deal is the zero feedback, but hell, not everyone is on AZ and ebay everyday....

Get your bankrolls out folks, this cue is the real deal! I have it on good authority that the Auction is indeed legitimate. Here are the facts:
The Auction will run the duration
The reserve is a paltry $23500
The cue is available for inspection
The seller will soon post photos of the Miz and possibly G. Szamboti with the cue in their hands,as well as photos of the butt with the bumper removed. I believe the number to be around 60k to 75k,like Ken said, this is shaping up to be the Balabushka Auction of the Century!

Here is another Fake eBay auction, but man it is a nice looking cue!!

how do you know it's fake?? if in fact you really don't have first hand info that it is, than you need to do more research before you blatantly "out" an auction as being fake. i see nothing in this auction that makes it look like it's fake. just because the seller has no feedback means nothing on ebay today. many people open an account just to place and item for sale to get the most exposure. if it were my auction and i knew of a thread that was started like this id be ticked. i think a better way to handle it would be to post something like a "Is this ebay sale legit??" thread. if it is legit the sky's the limit is my guess.....

skins --------- thinks it could be legit....

I'm with you. That looks like a good auction for a great cue. I don't understand all the caution and all the "outting" with these auctions anyway. Win the auction, pay with PayPal funded by a credit card, if he doesn't send the cue, dispute the charge and get your money back. If he sends the cue and you don't like it and you can't come to terms with the seller, dispute the charges and get your money back.

Just as a warning to anyone that is actually looking to bid on this auction. Once the bidding gets to 15K eBay will require the bidders to have a hightened level of verification, a credit card registered with eBay or PayPal will suffice.

Great auction, great cue. The zero feedback could hurt the $$ a bit, but I'd want the "under" in any case, even from your lower number. This will be fun to watch.

Do you think there's any play left in my M (I hope so), it's at $2,025 now?

Let's Play- Closest Over &under wins Kamui or Moori

OK AZers, here's the Game Rules::)

There is a new Thread on the board for this contest. Please refere to it for your submissions, however I will tally these as well. Just make sure you don't submit more than 2 number guesses.

Go to http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=79981

1. Everyone is allowed 2 guesses at the final bid amount.

2. Since this auction does not end for 9 days from now, and so not to hijack this thread too much further, all entry guesses must be submitted by midnight (AZBilliards post time) Saturday, November 17, 2007. Your entry must be posted to the board. I will record all entries Sunday and post them as soon as I have completed the task.

3. You may make both entries at the same time or in separate entries, however if you make a third entry, you disqualify yourself and all entries previous or future made by you.

4. After the eBay auction ends, the member who had the closest under guess to the final bid price is the winner and will win 1 Hard (Quick) Moori tip plus their choice of 1 Hard or Medium Kamui tip. No vacations to Hawaii, Tahiti, or Atlantic City, New Jersey... sorry. :)

The member whose entry is the closest over guess will win his/her choice of either 1 Moori hard or 1 Kamui hard tip as a consolation prize.

All prizes will be mailed first class postage free of charge to the designated prize winners.

No prize substitutions for cash or any other item may be made.

There can be no ties since the time of entry will dictate who has first and sole rights to the guessed price.

5. The outcome of the eBay auction does not require that the auction final bid exceeeds the lister's reserve price for this game. This game is for eBay auction # 120183294622 only. If the auction is cancelled prior to the stated end of auction time, this contest is unfortunately cancelled null and void also.

6. There is no entry fee but you have to be 18 or over to play. (Child protection liability requires this rule, sorry)

Wanna Play ?
The Game is On.

If the auction reserve is set at $23,500, I don't think the cue will sell.

Kevin

Fatboy, now I see why you wanted the Red banded Fellini.Perfect for the red ring Balabushka. Had a chance to look at the Thoroughbred?

This is my reasoning for the number I put out there. The provenance,A Mosconi owned Balabushka,as well as one of the nicest fancy ones for sale in a long while.Combine those elements with the 7 rings above the wrap and the red ring in the butt, and you have a cue that surely will break the bank. We will see if Balabushka is still the undisputed King of Cues.If pictures are provided of Miz and G. Szamboti with the cue in their hands it will add to the sale. If the present owner can provide a pic of Mosconi with the cue in hand, then the sky is the limit.I am curious as to Mark K.'s and Joe V.'s take on the cue.

Here's my thinking on taking the under. I think it's, with minor adds, a Level 4 in the current BlueBook and is a 13k book cue. The provenance is nice, but speculative, hand the cue to Gus, snap a pic, hand it to Miz, snap a pic, Mosconi, etc.
