Sponge 8 & 9 Balls on Fingers

I was just checking out the photos of the NAOT Tournament in the photo gallery, and noticed a picture of Blaine Sells about 4 pages over wearing what looked like spong 8 and 9 balls on his bridge hand fingers.

I have never seen this before, and was curious if anyone has seen these devices and /or used them?

I played in the naot tournament. He said the reason he wears them is to remind him to stay down on his shots. It doesn't make any sense to me. I don't like to judge people but this guy is one act that can't be topped. Everyone I spoke to about knew him as the crazy guy. He played at the world summit of pool and wore scuba googles on all long shots. I don't believe that this is all an act, the guy really is crazy.

I remember back when they had tournaments at The Sands in Vegas there was a guy who had several different cues to play with and they all had a different angle to the tip. He would use a different cue on every shot. Anyone know who I'm talking about? Peace, John.
 
Sheesh this took well over 15 mintues to find so here is the picture for the people who don't want to search like i just did.

If this is the same guy (looks like he cleaned up a bit), he has lived in Grand Rapids Michigan. He definately has a few screws not quite right. There is a story about him walking from Texas all the way to Michigan to a poolhall in Grand Rapids. He has slept under pool tables at tourneys here in Michigan before. Definately drug issues have taken a few brain cells.

Some of us were quite surprised to see his name in the brackets, as well as a tourney in Georgia awhile back.

Yes it's him. That is where he's from, I'm sure there is not another guy just like him around to confuse him with. I hope not, lol.
