Ha ha ha , ive known him for many years , in fact we live very close to each other.............. Im glad you had a fairly good dealing with him........Best of luck with the sale:)

sorry...i still dont know who you are talking about...

but if you are thinking this is the bluegrass that was on/off/on/off of ebay recently its not...that one has maple checkerboard whereas this cue has ivory checkerboard/silver ringwork and no points...

thanks for the bump tho...;)

Personally, I think this is the better looking of the two cues. The ebony one currently on eBay, I feel, the checkerboard is just overdone on. I think the effect of the checkerboard is more aesthically pleasing when there is a wood with figuring as the backdrop, such as this cue here, and one other that I have seen done in cocobolo. I don't much care for the checkerboard rinwork in that cue on eBay. I would hazard a guess that this may well be one of the first cues that the checkerboard inlay pattern appeared in...and may be the only one done in ivory.

Nice cue, scruggs. Hopefully it will go to someone who can appreciate it.

Thanks Lisa ;) and your guess is correct!

first checkerboard inlaid cue and only one known to have ivory.....very rare for Richard to use ivory in a lower end cue such as this....the silver ringwork is ultra rare too....the cue also weighs in at 19.5-7 oz ;)

i passed on an ultra rare steel jointed/turqouise ringed pj ebony bluegrass a few years back...it was just beautiful. :(

Actually I was the latest winner of the similar looking bluegrass cue on eBay ... won it at pretty good price as well (maybe too good). Well, it turns out Marty didn't want to sell it to me .. claimed I snaked him on some other deal ... and threatened negative feedback. Talking on the phone did no good.

I don't need another bluegrass that badly .. and will not buy from someone that didn't want to sell to me.

In the end, we agreed to stay out of each other's way from now on.

P.S. The cue is back on eBay starting at higher price than I winning price.

I was wondering about that Jazz. You won that auction straight-up...he was legally bound to sell you that cue at the final bid price, per eBay rules. Now he has a BiN price listed in the description, but didn't pay for that option in his listing. And then to threaten you with negative feedback?! What's up with this guy Marty?

Well, that alone right there should make the price on this cue attractive. :D The more I see it, the more I like it. I'm gonna keep hoping that the coco one that got away from me about 5 or so years ago on eBay resurfaces.:( There is a beautiful ebony/tulipwood one I found on a dealer's site, very similar to one Jazz just sold here, 'cept with an ivory joint.....but the guy is about 1K too high on the price.

That is pretty bad Jazz, can't imagine someone not liking you :)

The seller's anme on Bay is "all$in" ... it's certainly is not "all$there" :D

Anyway, I don't want to hijack this thread .. just wanted to clarify that the cue on eBay is not the cue being offered here. Afterall, this cue being offered by Brian is fine looking bluegrass with 1/4 inch deep IVORY inlays.

I wonder if it comes with fancy joint protectors?
