What does everyone think would look best on this cue. Its ebony with a bem handle. I'm going to do some dashed Micarta ringwork but I can't decide which collars & buttcap to choose. What would look best? Black would look great, white is done on a lot of ebony cues. How would brown look? I'm thinking blk G10 pin as well. Opinions please. Thank you.:)

I don't think brown would go well unless you have brown in forearm, like points for example. I have always loved that basic look. Something different, and a favorite of mine, is to use BEM for the buttcapp. I have a cue in the store with a simular design and it looks sharp. Problem is durabilty.

IMO, a "hoppe ring" would go great with it! I LOVE the handle BTW...As for trim rings, DON'T make the mistake and use brown, it just won't look right. I think your best and safest bet would be to use black with ivory dashes, as well as an ivory "hoppe ring" for the buttcap. OR....Maybe black rings with birdseye curved dashes, like 1/2 circles...know what I'm talkin' about?

design

In short, I wouldn't use brown as it adds a new color to the mix that is not supported by the rest of the design. Black and white would be a nice classy addition. Another option, might be a ring with lighter wood complemented by black.

double rings of .030" nickel silver sandwiched around .040" dashed white/black ring. Sleeved ivory half joint!!

I just got some advice from one of the elite cuemakers...he said go with the brown as it will match the handle when completed. I was thinking that as well. It would make the cue very unique. Thoughts?:)

I'll replace that Silver Rings with Red Wood Rings (Bloodwood?).

for some reason I think grey phenolic....of course I don't know if they even make it..just sitting here tired as can be and thats the color that keeps coming to mind.

You're absolutely killin' me here because I just ordered something similar from another cue maker and your handle ROCKS compared to mine! I've always liked the look of using the maple for the butt cap too. Not sure how that would work for the joint rings though - you'd probably have to go with black on those. Post some pics when you're finished and make me weep;)

What would look best? two words baby, two words Irish Linen. Go white w/ single black spec

Jake(knows damn well that's not gonna happen):D

Jesus Varney your cues look so damn nice. I'm going to have to go to Rack Em sometime just to see how they hit.

This cue was just purchased by Bnall. He's going to spend the weekend deciding brown or blk.
Thank you everyone for the kind comments.:)

cue design

Same birdseye maple long points (four only, wide and long), some black and white veneers with four clean, mitered birdseye boxes on the butt. Add your preference of classic inlays (or not) and probably ivory, black and silver trim rings at all four joints. Butt and joint to match in ivory (trim rings similar to photo). Best of luck with design, Kent.

Mr. Bnall has decided to do an Elforyn 1/2 joint bordered with double white Micarta stitches in double black linen....with a Hoppe butt. Blk G10 3/8-10, Saber T, Kamui M. Great choices & very elegant.:)
