I'm looking for a new set of balls for my GCIII and I have received a offer on a Aramith Pro TV and a Centennial set. Any one with experience with both and can give me some feedback?

I have looked at a Aramith Pro TV set in a pool club and the white ball looks almost like it's have got a "glazed-marble" structure in it. This is most likely due to the ball have been landing on the tiles on the floor.

The point for me is to get a good set for practice - when the time comes to mount the table.

I would go with the Centennials. A lot of people will tell you Arimith, tv or whatever, but I'd still go with the Centennials. I played with Centennials for over twenty years in the pool room I played in back in New York. Never, ever, saw a chipped, scratched, cracked, or even blemished Centennial in all those years. When I moved to South Carolina in 1997 more sets had been added as more tables were added to the room but none were replaced. The Arimith Super Pros that I got with my table showed scratch marks in less than a year. They also have never stayed shiny even with regular polishing.
I think the Centennials cost more, but it's worth it.

I would go with the Centennials. To me, there is NO comparison. They are the best there is.

In one way I'm not concerned about the looks, the comment about the "marble" was that they really looked damaged and I'm not sure if this has any affect.
In our club we use Aramith Premium (or was it Super pro...) and these balls feels different than the TV set with it's "dotted" white ball. Almost like the Premium is smaller in diameter than the TV set and also the TV set feels heavier. I have to put more power to it to get the same draw. It should be mentioned that the two clubs have different tables and cloth which would make a big difference of course.

But if there is no difference in feel between the TV set and the Centennials I guess the Centennials is the one to go for then? By the way, do really Brunswick still make these balls or are these possibly made by Aramith on license?? As we know, the Brunswick tables is for sure "outsourced".

Thanks for the feedback.

Balls

My choice is and always will be...............Centennials !!!!!!!!!!

The Best In My Book......For Sure

Thanks........Paul

Saluc makes them both, and uses the same 'Super Aramith PRO' phenolic resin. The Centennials cost more because of the Brunswick connection.

p.s. Even with that knowledge, however, I personally opt for the more expensive Centennials, just because that design, in my opinion, is the definitive pocket billiards design. I like the little black target circle for the numbers, and I don't like the number in the stripe...

Like Dave I have both sets + the Centennial TV set, the only difference
are the pink and chocolate on the TV set

Like swest I like the design of the Centennials better. look around,
especially on ebay and you can sometimes find really good buys on
the Centennials that get the pricing more in line with the Superpros.
That's how I got both of my Centennial sets.

i say centenials.

we have both and i can deff feel the difference

superpros are "clankier" if that makes sense

wana test take the centenials and hit a few shots with the blue dot then hit the same shots with the red dot. the materials are different.

Thank's folks.

I have hear by ordered a set of Centennials. They have been slightly used (don't know how much but it was said "nicely used") so it would be the Christmas present from me to me :happydance:

Also I do admit that the design is nicer but I have been told that they are also not to easy to spot in low light condition (they put more strain on you're eyes).

Anyway, looking forward to receive them.

Dave;
I guess you mean Centennials TV set then - wrt blue dot ? I'm not sure if this is the set I would receive but I guess it would be a surprise :)

Referring to blue circle and red circle cue balls, I think. IIRC, the blue circle comes with the Centennials.

I did a quick google on these and it seems like the biggest difference is the "pink" looking 4 ball and that the cue ball has one round circle which I guess could be blue.

I was afraid the cue ball had a lot of blue "spots" like the Aramith ball set which has a cue ball with red spots all over which I find annoying :)

Looking forward to get them.

You made a great choice!

I love my Centennial Balls like everyone else.

I was surprised to read that everyone likes the Centennials. I thought I was in the minority with all the Aramith TV Ball hype.

To be honest, I loved the look on these when I first saw them which I think was in "The Hustler" if I remember correct. It's a classic design which was not the first priority, but now I can have both the looks and the quality as I understand it

Centennials and a GC. They are made for each other. 2 classics. Why break them up?

My vote is for the Centennials.

Test Results

I played with Super Aramith Pros for three years, then bought a set of Centennials this past year just for a change of look. The Centennials are a more classic design, taking me back to my youth. The Super Aramiths appear more translucent, and less pure white than the Centennials.

As for playing characteristics, I conducted rigorous testing this evening to determine how the two sets perform. Based on my analysis, both sets have an annoying tendency to jar in the pockets, rebound at unexpected angles, and produce confounding kisses and caroms. It therefore appears that it is possible to suck equally with either set. In fact, the coefficient of suckage was essentially identical for both the Super Aramith Pros and the Centennials.

So go for what suits your eye.

I have a GC I and was asking the same question - get the centennials! If you play with a nike driver it seems to make more sense to me to hit nike balls. Just my opinion though.

Thanks for the 'clankier' comment- I had been searching for a word to describe the difference. Now i need search no more.:)
