Dave Sutton Refunded Me

I signed on to the computer and saw a paypal refund from Dave Sutton. I also got an e-mail asking me to call him.

Dave and I had a nice long talk, probably over an hour. He said he would have worked things out, but I didn't give him a chance to contact Jose or anything, which he felt obligated to do. He insisted that they would have done the right thing. He is still baffled about the extreme amount of warp in the cue.

When Dave comes back in a week, I am asking everyone to at least give him a chance to prove himself and make things right. He is a young man who is still on a learning curve. Hey, been there, done that, right?

Let's see what kind of heart we can all muster to give him a second chance if he returns with a good attitude.

I'm glad you got your refund TATE. Thanks for doing the right thing Dave.

I'm very pleased that he did the right thing by you, Chris!

I will gladly reply to his Posts here, but will I ever buy from him? Hmmm, let's see, well, considering that, then factoring in the other thing, carry the 1, that leaves:

HELL NO!

But I'm glad iit worked out for you. :p

Well as they say, all is well that ends well!!!!!!!!;)

On another note this is why I like this forum, people do truely band together, and act like an extended family. Being in the Military for half my life I have learned that there certainly is strength in numbers, and over and over again this has been proven on this site. While no where is completely safe and all transactions will not be smooth the membership of this forum is Nationally located to such an extent that it is very difficult for some one to hide forever. Man, what a great place that is full of great people.

To David, thanks for doing the right thing, I am certain you will feel allot better about it in the long run. We all make mistakes, and this is not a totally bad thing as long as we learn from them, and do not repeat them.

Chris, I am very glad everything worked out for you, but that is what happens when you act in a professional manner, and accord others the respect you would want to be treated with. My hat is off to you Sir, for maintaining your cool through this entire situation.

To both of you, have a great night!!!!

That's great Chris. I say forgive, but DO NOT forget! I have to think coming on here and letting the world know about it made a difference. Who knows what would have happened if there was no AZ to report activity like this on.

I want to know one thing. Did he apologize to you for the abusive tone he took with you. That is unpardonable otherwise.

KOOL BEANS....I believe in corporal and not capital punishment for transgressions of this nature.

Through his deeds Dave can rebuild his credibility as far as I'm concerned.

I'm glad the right thing was done. Dave, I regain respect for you as a fellow member of the board. As for you TATE, I'd still give you the shirt off my back if you needed it.

Jay,

He was a sweetheart. He thought I jumped the gun on him and insisted he would have worked it out. He wrote an apology he wanted me to publish, but I suggested it would be more meaningful coming from him.

I just ask that we cut some slack and at least give him a chance to prove himself. He's a tough kid from a very tough area trying to make something of himself. He loves the game, loves cues, and worships Jose Garcia. He is just learning how to conduct himself in this sort of environment. What can I say? Despite all this, I really like him. We get along great.

I know it's hard to believe but even after refunding me he insists the cue was pretty straight when he shipped it. I was wondering, with a flimsy creased box and 120 degree storage, and something heavy leaning on it if a cue could warp like that? I might take a beater cue and test the theroy.

Very cool !!! I am glad that there is light at the end of the tunnel on this mishap. I agree that there has been way too much negative crap happening here lately..

Chris I don't remember you ever mentioning anything about a flimsy creased box. Of course we know a flimsy box is no way to ship a cue, but was the box actually creased?

Thats Great!!!!!

Way to go Dave! You did the right thing. There is much to be learned here an it can be all positive. When you return I will restore your rep.

Yes it was, but the problem was, the box had been used several times before for shipping cues. It had various labels on it, so it was impossible to tell when the creasing had occurred.

Because of my initial mistrust for Dave, and the fact that I've never had a problem with warping or damage (except once) in shipment using Fed Ex air, I discounted the possibility of this amount of warpage.

He clearly believes the cue was reasonably straight when he sent it, but the cue wasn't in his possession very long. Let me tell you a story. A long time ago I was selling an Adam cue on e-bay. I screwed it together and sighted down it, and it looked pretty straight. I put it for sale. I got a question: Is the butt straight? I took out the butt and rolled it and realized it was quite warped, almost as bad as this cue. A cue with a straight shaft and a warped butt will sight pretty straight as long as the warp is not right at the joint.

I canceled the auction, but I surely would have been in the same position as Dave had I sold the cue. I still have to assume he sighted the cue for warp but didn't check the butt alone before he sent it. The shaft is straight to within a 1/16th.
