I didn't really have any pertinent questions to ask you, just pretty much saying hello! Been looking at your progress through mostly these types of forums and it is awesome how you are moving through the ranks. Now I unfortunately don't get a lot of playing time and want to improve my consistency in my game. I do have random moments of brillance, but those are the full blue moons in between my normal game. But I did notice that if i do take the time to warm up before my league night, i do play a lot better. I have asked this to several A-level players and other players that have played on an open level, what drills/shots do you practice before your matches? if you have the WEI table that would be awesome! Also you don't happen to have a single twin sister do you? :D

The question I have for Jenn is does she need a bodyguard to fight off all the guys from hitting on her at the bars and pool tournaments. But since she is a former fitness competitor it seems like she would have to problem fighting them off. I was just offering so that she could focus more on pool and less about the attention she draws when she goes out.

Hey Piper,

I don't have a WEI table, but if you can tell me how to use it I'll show you the drills I do during tournaments to keep my stroke smooth and straight.

I don't have a bodyguard either, Justnum, but thanks for caring!

Jenn,

When you go to reply and you want to have a wei table, go to "LINKS" at the top of page, click the bottom (wei table) selection, arrange the table the way you want with your curser, when you're done click the "copy" button.....then go to the reply window and click the little blue "wei" button, place your curser between the resulting brackets, right click and select paste. The info for the table will be inserted and the table should show up in the reply.:)

This is the position for both of the drills that I do. At first I'll make the cueball replace the object ball, not just stop it or let it roll forward. This takes a really smooth accurate stroke. When I get it down, usually ten times in a row I'll set up the same shot and draw the cueball back into a scratch. This takes real precision and a very smooth stroke with lots of follow through. When I'm doing both of these consistently I know I'm aligned well. (sorry about that red arrow. I'm not sure how that got there)

Thanks Jennifer! Last Night I practiced those warm up drill and you are right, it does take a very smooth stroke. The part that I really enjoyed about the drill, was that it allowed me to focus on my stroke, not necessarily the shots. After about an hour of running this drill I found myself in stroke, and warmed up. I usually for the draw, attempt to draw back to a specific diamond and then continue to move the attempted position of draw farther back. I do the same with the follow. Thanks for the insight and the help!

Was this before I got there? If not, that hour consisted of 3 attempts, and then you said rack em. LOL

*shakes head*

Busted! Take an hour for your drills before you play. I know it's boring, but it will really help you get better!

No I don't have a girlfriend, likeabank, so i was there a full hour and half before you two finally wandered in.

Hey Jenn, another question in regards to drills, what drills to you use to hone english. I notice that when i use right or left english, it is either full left or full right. Playing with some of the more advanced players they are able to utilize like a half tip of left, to get to the proper position. I tried simple drills like a standard cut shot into the corner and then using the running to start getting an idea of speed, direction of the rail, etc. That seemed to help me out a lot in regards to being able to put just slight english on the ball. Would like to your thoughts on the matter.

This is one of the most common shots in 9 ball. Try making the 1 ball and hitting each ball down the opposite rail. This will require various amounts of draw and english.

This is another great position drill. It teaches you to get anywhere on the table from the same shot. You have to make the cueball hit each ball.

Because I like to let you talk.

awesome thank you Jennifer. I have never scene those drills. One that i have practiced myself usually out of boredom just because i find it challenging is this one. this is how i worked on my rail shots. START(

This one is not as hard as it looks. Could be i just got used to rail shots after doing this drill like a 100 times. Anyway it's can be an interesting challenge. It's ball in hand, and you get to run. If you miss count how many you made and that is your score, if you move a call by way of running into the ball, you leave the OB where is settles.

Thanks for the information and the drills I am going to try those out tonight before my league night!

The last diagram that you mentioned, you said make the cue ball hit each ball. So not necessarily making them just to contact them. and is that in One stroke?? Because that just seems impressive if you can do that in one stroke :D :D .
she means make the one in the side..and then have the CB hit a ball...

I tried this only on a shot or two last night.. sinking the OB in the side and hitting a ball on the rail.. I imagine that the far right balls (end rail middle and end rail , farthest corner) would be the toughest to shoot... good drill. thanks.

likeabankkid - That shot is meant for people who can draw. OHHHHHH LOL I can't believe they cancelled our league buddy. I guess they got tired of me running out on them, and you raggin on em. LOL. HA. Mini 9ball tournies on thursday's now. Be there and bring 10 bucks.
