I notice that there are at least 2 varieties available, Cue Reach & J.W. Hager. Is one better than the other or is there a 3rd & even better option?

there're are a couple of canadian cuemakers that make built in extensions. i think deroo is one of them and he offers that option to cues that he hasn't built so i guess you could look into that

I have a new break cue for sale that comes with an extension. If you are interested, I can send you pictures.

That looks like it would work well.

I found it a little too long and added a lot of weight to the cue. Tony Ryan makes a little shorter one and is not as heavy. Fits in case better also.

not sure what cue you use. some cue makers actual make a custom attachment for their cue. Chris Bartram had one on the action report the other day when he played mike. It looked real solid he screwed it into the butt cap of his playing cue

I was given one of the Plastic Jobs like the one pictured below to try, it worked well, but IMHO need some sort of ANTI SCRATCH LINER, as you had to be very careful with it sliding it on and off the Cue.

Now it was Pre Owned, so I do not know if it was like that NEW. Causing Scratches.

Anyway I returned it to the giver, and he is stil trying to sell it.

you know what I really want?

I want someone to put the same threads in the back of my cue that are on the handle of my jump break cue. That way I don't have to carry around another piece of wood (I already have my jump/break in the bag and either half of the handle is the perfect length for an extension), and I also love the quick release 1 turn threads it has.

the one john hager makes is $25.00 and has a liner. it works well, i have his case, the cue butt holder comes out and also works as an extension, it's much longer.

Clarification

I have a Sledgehammer, but why would a break cue need an extender? What kind of extender do you have?

I know you will answer honestly even if you don't sell them so:

What are the relative merits of J.W. Hager vs Tony Ryanvs Longoni?

Or perhaps you want to add to these options.

I own or have owned all of them and I'll share my experiences. The Longoni extension is the most expensive and will damage butts with it's clamping action unless you are verrrrrrry careful every time you put it on and remove it. I know of 3 people who scratched a butt sleeve including me. NO THANK YOU!

The Hagar works, is inexpensive and is less likely to scratch a butt sleeve but I wouldn't use it on some of my higher end ebony butt sleeves that tend to show micro scratches easily.

The Tony Ryan is the easiest and fastest to put on and remove and is padded. I use mine every day and have never experienced a scratch regardless of which cue I'm using. I bought the strap on case for the Tony Ryan extension from Seyberts so it solved the old "how in the hell do I carry one of these things?" problem.

I do not claim to be an expert on gadgets but I can promise you this...since I have very little control over whitey and I'm a short guy, I have extensive experience using cue extensions---way too much experience. :o

I don't care for those slip on extensions. I would rather have one like this:

Not this Cuetec one in particular....probably a custom one.
