Having fun again - Cuetec Fusion shaft

Hi all,

I was feeling adventurous and one night I ordered a Cuetec Fusion shaft at at bargain.
For all who don't know - it's a Snooker shaft to fit right onto your normal Cuetec butt instead of the R360, for example.

EDIT: And on the whole Internet there was absolutely nothing to find about the shaft!

And fun I was having. 9mm tip and proper ash.
https://www.dynamic-billard.com/en/...shafts/672/shaft-cuetec-fusion-nature-snooker

Sounds weird? Not at all.
The shaft feels awesome, silky and not sticky (it's fully coated).
The ash looks nice enough (but has no dark grain filler), has a canonical taper, brass ferrule and is nicely balanced.
The 9mm tip was not shaped at all (completely flat) and after some handywork to round it off was ready to play.

I expected to miss just about everything. Instead the first CB hit went just about straight. Playing some 14.1 lead to excellent result, even on long balls.
Playing a CB close to the rail never was easier, too. Excellent feeling for the hit.

A revelation: finally you're able SEE where the hell you're actually hitting the CB. The brass ferrule has a nice contrast.
And as for LD: it's a cheap shaft but the deflection is a tad better than a Tiger LD at 12,75mm without any funky business.

Every now and then I would use my main cue with a Tiger LD and think: is that huuuge. I can't see a damn thing!

Wow. I haven't had that much fun in a long time. And I plan to use it regularly for training and precision exercises.

Cheers,
M (not your typical pool player)

So nice to see others experimenting with pool equipment and I'm glad you like the fusion

I seem to have trouble playing with thins shafts, everything under 12mm seems unnatural to me when playing pool :embarrassed2:

Could post a picture of it? It would be nice to see one
I have a soft spot for cuetecs even though I have never played with one. I will buy one with a r360 some day and see how I like it

As you asked nicely and I do have a soft spot for Finns...
Cuetecs are nice, you can get one just for trying out stuff and you still have a serious cue. Look at CER and CEV series. Change the tip to something medium and you have one hell of a sensitive allround cue. Only downside is their fscking 3/8x14 joint where you get close to no other shafts.

Here are the pictures:

Unfortunately it was hard to get sharp closeups.
Images are bigger than shown, just click on them. I've included the tip and also how you would view the CB when aiming.
One thing to add: the joint is close as one can ever be.

Well, time for some updates again. I do hope some care about this topic :embarrassed2:

I am now completely unable to play with my big 12,75 Tiger LD shaft, despite that its feedback is fine and comparable to the Fusion and I've done all my Carom training with it.
But the bigger tip somehow obstructs my view and I get an uncomfortable feeling because of that.
I'm now certain that the pro / mixed taper of the Tiger causes wobbling or inaccurate movements on stronger shots with an open bridge so that I'm not hitting where I intent to; no problem with the canonical Fusion here and I don't want to go back to any other taper.

Accuracy on straight shots has not gone down, instead I almost never cause unintended spin anymore. I am also much more comfortable with top spin to stop the CB close to the rail, much like here:

A very well versed Carom player tried the Fusion, too. He said that the feeling is fine and the action is fantastic without any real effort (due to the smaller tip). He's playing a 10,3mm tip with Elkmasters usually.

The other players now call the Fusion "the shaft that has rented luck" (literal translation). I don't know if I shall laugh or be offended by that

The lessons I take away are:
- Smaller tips are easy once you have basic feeling for a stroke.
- Also playing a too round tip is not good due to the fact that it gets increasingly difficult to judge where you actually are hitting the cue ball.
- Think outside of the box
- Snooker, Pool, Carom - don't care. Use anything to your advantage.
- Finally I have a LD shaft and I think it's lower than the Predator Revo!
- I seriously think about ordering a 3/8x10 custom LD snooker shaft from a German maker

Cheers,
M

Thanks for posting the update

I really enjoy reading about equipment, too bad that this review are is totally abandoned and if you even think of saying "shaft" in the main forum, you better be prepared to face everyone smashing down on your view of things  Nice that it works for you, especially for the price
